    New tunes recorded with Roadster

Admittedly these are pretty rough...especially the bass and drums... I recorded these using a 2005 LP Standard with stock pups, and my Roadster (I think I had 4xEL34s in it at the time, or maybe 2xEL34s + 2x6L6s) through a mesa 2x12 into an SM57 and recorded on Cubase. Check out the...

Maxon + Roadster = Sonic Bliss at last

After demoing a wide enough variety of pedals to upset even the most patient guitar store salesman, and even taking one home (Custom Audio) and returning it then repeating the process again... I came across a Maxon Overdrive Pro. I didn't initially try it because it is big, green, and somewhat...

What is "crossover distortion"? I hear it is a bad kind of distortion but don't really know what it is or how to avoid it. Anyone?

100W / 50W setting on Dual Rectifier Roadster

I am running a pair of EL34s on the outside and on the inside running a pair of 6V6s. (eurotubes) Question is...If I run at 100W, I am using all four tubes...if I switch to 50W am I only running the outside tubes (EL34s) and not using the 6V6s at all??

    effect loop level? DR Roadster...

I noticed that I can control the volume of my amp (DR Roadster) by turning up or down the effect loop level. For example if the loop level is set very low, I can turn up the Output a lot (am I working my power tubes harder in this case??). Is there an optimal level (I am not using any effects...

    solution for buzzy rectos?

Getting rid of the BUZZ? I think I have a simple solution for reducing or eliminating the typical recto buzz, with the kind help of our buddies at JJ's. Of course the usual disclaimers apply (if you **** up your amp don't blame us!!), but JJ's didn't think this would harm the amp in any way...

tone suggestions - pickups / tubes for roadster!

I own a Roadster now (YAY! :D ), and I am finding that the 500T/496R pickups I put recently on my LP Standard are too bright and lack a sweet open midrange punch that I desire... The original Burstbucker Pros that came on the LP Standard were nice but not "open" sounding enough (ie. not enough...

    lonestar special or dr roadster?

I use a fair bit of overdriven sounds and have a single recto right now, I like the Vintage with gain all the way up and also Modern channel for some songs. I am thinking of upgrading to the roadster. But I do like the sound of a class A amp. Question, can the lonestar special actually...

no sound when fx loop on

the higher i turn up the effects loop mix on my single recto, the lower the overall sound gets (and no effected sound is mixed in whatsoever). When mix is up as high as it can go there is no sound from the amp. When I have the mix down as low as possible the sound from the amp is nice and loud...

    fuse question

I bought a couple backup fuses - 2.5a for my single recto... They are not slo-blo as the store did not have any slo-blo fuses so I just got normal ones. Question - can I use these normal fuses rather than slo-blo? If so, what would be the effect of this? Thanks guys David

breaking in speaker cab - how?

Yesterday I bought a 2x12 recto cab (v-30 spkrs) so at my option I will no longer have to haul my massively heavy 4x12 around to gigs/rehearsal. My old 4x12 recto cab sounds super - nice and mellow compared to this brand new recto 2x12 cab which is quite harsh. Is this normal? I know that...

Placement of effects - need help!

I am a bit confused... I bought a solo50 (single rec) a while back, and in order to create "MY TONE", I bought the following stompers and arranged the signal chain in the following order: - Guitar - Inline tuner - Wah - Reverb - Mesa single rec amp The amp is distorting the reverb...

    rectifier - diode or tube?

Someone earlier said that mathematically there is virtually no difference between the two alternatives. The curiosity was that the single rectifier uses a diode while the triple and dual rectifiers use tubes for this purpose. :?: What does a rectifier do exactly (convert AC to DC??) and what...
