Anybody use the Mesa Widebody 1x12s with their Lone Star ?

That's a Celstion Gold 12" 8 ohm? How does it differ from the C90?

Anybody use the Mesa Widebody 1x12s with their Lone Star ?

The widebody cab should sound good. If you get a chance, try a 27" Lonestar 1x12 cab. Killer sounding cab. Rich, full, and big.

    NAD! Lonestar Classic short head!

Yes, the new heads and 1x12 combos/cabs are the 23" format only. I was thinking about getting a 23" cab but my 27" 1x12 sounds so good I've decided I don't want to change it. Might downsize my 27" head to the medium though.

WTB: 2 Channel Dual Rectifier RevF...

This is off topic, but I have to ask, do you still have your Reeves Super 78 and Jimmy?

Any interest in a mint LSC long headshell?

I'm contemplating converting to a medium headshell and wanted to see if anyone might be interested in buying the long headshell. It's a late 2009 and is in mint condition. I haven't settled on a price yet but I'm thinking around $250.00 shipped with slip cover. Thanks.

    Cathode Follower positions?

I talked with MESA awhile back on this and they said they're now using JJ's in their amps and that they will work in any position, to include V3.

Can it be done? (drive mod content)

I believe I saw awhile ago someone on this board who set up a footswitch for the drive but it was for just on/off, not level. You might want to do a search on the topic.

    Tweed function....

The following is a quote from the manual. Mesa has the manuals for the various amps on their website. I like the tweed setting when in 10 watt Class A mode. "This sideways 3 position toggle switch determines the status of the incoming AC power. Your LONE STAR incorporates a built-in VARIAC...

Has anyone heard about the LSS being discontinued?

I've seen some Lonestars at the local GC for discount prices as well. They've been there a long time. I definitely agree, don't buy any floor model stock at GC. I've seen staff using nice amps as step stools and God knows what else happens to them over the course of time.

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

Also keep in mind that with the loop switched in, if the contacts are dirty, it will cause the volume to cut in and out. It's a common problem which I also had with my LSC head and can be cured with some contact cleaner or as in my case, it was mild enough that just plugging/unplugging a cable...

Can anyone compare LSC to Electra Dyne?

The cleans and reverb on the ED are very good. I would give the Lonestar the edge on this though. Very 3D and full. As for the lead channel, I would say that the Lonestar has quite a bit of gain, especially if you have the effects loop switched in and the send dialed up, but I don't think it has...

    LSC crappin' out

Another common issue that will cause the volume to drop out is if you have the effects loop switched in, dirty contacts on the send/receive jacks will cause a problem. Contact cleaner can help.

    Lonestar 23 1X12 vs 27 1X12

Hey guys, Thanks for the feedback on the cabs. I'm thinking I'm gonna stick with my 27" cab, maybe even get something to go along with it. :) I spoke with MESA about this also when I was getting pricing on the medium headshell and they concurred with everyone here about the 23" being more boxy...

    Lonestar Classic standby thump

I don't know about a thud, but getting a pop when in 10 watt mode and switching into standby is common. I have a 2009 LSC head.

    Lets Rock!

Wow! That's impressive. I might have a LSC long headshell available soon. It should fit the LSS chassis and would go along really well with that stack.

    Lonestar 23 1X12 vs 27 1X12

Has anybody used both the 23" and 27" versions of the 1X12 cab? I'm thinking about converting to a medium headshell and matching 23" cab for the sake of portability and was wondering what I might lose soundwise with the smaller cab.

Lonestar Classic Short Head Reverb Problem

Just measured on my long head and there is 1-7/8" between the tank and transformer so it looks like the short head is not as tall.

Lonestar Classic Short Head Reverb Problem

OK, that would seem to make sense but I just looked at my LSC long head and the reverb tank is centered exactly under the chassis although its a bit closer to the front of the head shell so maybe that's the difference. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62536676@N08/5995383209/in/photostream.
