    Lonestar vs Mark IV

Hey gang---I've heard of a good deal on a Lonestar 2x12 combo. I've currently have a Mark IV and a Mark IIb. I have been struggling with the Mark IV lately to gt a good classic rock tone. It sounds incredible with high gain or clean, but the R2 channel looses dynamics when the gain is turned...

    Mark IV with a Strat

I am looking to make my strat sound a little better through my Mark IV. I'm not crazy how a strat, and I've tried several with different pups, sounds through the Mark IV esp the R2 and lead channels. I am thinking about getting an overdrive pedal, boost pedal, combination OD/boost, and or a MXR...

    Carvin Guitars

Hey All Anybody have experience with Carvin guitars? I purchased on recently that was a very beautiful, very well made guitar, but I just thought the tone was rather poor. It was a DC127T, walnut neck thru-body with walnut body wings and a maple top. It came with Carvin M22 pups. Compared to...

To Buy or Not To Buy

Hey All Saw an ad for a Triple Rec for $850. I'm a Mark IV guy, but want to know from those who may be more familiar with the Rec's 1. How different is a Rec and a Mark IV? 2. Can I run all EL34? 3. Is $850 a good deal? Thought it might be fun to have for a different, but still Boogie sound...

    I Love My Rig

I read a lot of posts with folks constantly looking to "improve" their tone. It seems like they are caught up in the greener pasture syndrome thinking that another head or pedal or cab is gonna be the "be all end all". Well, I'm officially off the treadmill. I LOVE MY RIG. 2007 Mark IV short...

    Mark IV Pull Shift

I must admit, I was not into the pull shifts when I first got this head. But a few weeks ago, I pulled it out for the R2 and, you know what? I really dig that tone. I had to play for a bit, but I really dig the responsiveness I get with it. Lately I've been playing more classic rock stuff and it...

    Celestion Blue Alnico Speaker

Please pardon my ignorance if this is a dumb question, but I found a Boogie Celestion Blue Alnico Speaker 1x12 cab. The seller says it's rated at 30W 16 ohm everywhere I've searched online says they are 15W. I have a Mark IV and a Mark IIB. Would either of my amps toast this speaker anyway?

    Mark IIB

Well I think it's time. Mark IIB is going back to mama. I'm sending my trusty IIb that I've had for 22 years back to Boogie for some TLC and a complete go-through. The EQ's been humming for years and I think it's time she was checked out by the creators. I'll keep ya posted.

    New Case Smell

Was driving home after a gig yesterday and had my new Explorer in it's new case on my back seat and I also had a newer Ibanez a friend gave me to help setup his Floyd Rose and I got to tell you my truck smelled like a new case. It made me wish they had a little mirror tree with that smell.

    Muchos Gracias

A big thanks to those who answered my posts about my Mark IV blowing tubes. I gleened tons of good info and am forever :D indebted. Well, I got my Mark IV back from Boogie. The head checks out fine and the issue according to them it was a bad power tube. The original issue I had was that the...

    Mark IIB Speaker Issues

Hello Group I must start out by saying I love this board and it has been so invaluable for me in recent weeks since I found. Recently I have been reading about speakers e.g. V30 vs G12T-100 . My rig consists of a Mark IV via a recto 2x12 horizontal (V30's in there) and a satellite out to a...

    Mark IV A vs B

Please forgive my ignorance. I have noted by reading different threads on this awesome forum that there is distinctly Mark IVa's and b's. What is the difference between the two. Are there performance differences as well? I bought mine new last year and It's got a detachable power chord and is a...

Foot Switches for the Mark IV

Hey Gang, I've got a 2007 Mark IV and I want to get a footswitch for the reverb and class A functions. Boogie has footswitches, but they are $60 each an rather narrow-tippy in my opinion. My question is....Is there a single box out there with two latch type switches, but seperate outputs for...

    Mark IV

Well maybe I'm lucky and maybe not...I got the last run of the Mark IV's. I bought mine new last year. The tone is incredible, but I have had a lot of little annoyances a few big problems. It's back at Boogie after I blew 2 power tubes within a week in the class A slots. The first tube was an...

    MARK IIB 60 Watt

Hey gang, I've had a Mark IIB 60 1x12 Combo since the late '80's. I have not seen another like this. Got it from a store in Schnectady NY for $500. It's just a 60watt, no reverb, black vinyl, graphic EQ and a bullet proof EV speaker. Most all the Mark IIB's I've seen online are the...
