Is an openback cab plus a closed back cab overkill...

Man, I just love the combination in all situations. And yeah it's the sound of the 80's 412 half open half closed! Hey, I was wondering which EV's you're running? Right now I have wide body open, and wide body closed, both with C90's, which sound really great, but I know how great the EV's sound!

Went from Mark V to IIC+ - and I kind of miss the V

No, that doesn't make you a bad person! Whatever sounds best, works best for you is what you need, regardless of other opinions. I've had most Mesa amps, including a Mark III red stripe, and a Mark IV early edition, which are both supposed to be pretty similar to the II C+, and I like the Mark...

Anyone else notice this with wireless...

Hey thanks! Looking for a system that really is as good as a really good cable, and hoping maybe the Line6 is. Or, if there's something else? I know this isn't the direct subject here, but close...

Anyone else notice this with wireless...

So, do you notice any decrease in sustain, or fullness off tone? I have a Shure system that is pretty good, but I definately notice a loss of sustain, and brightening of tone. Also a slight loss in fullness of tone. The brightness I can compensate for for the most part, but not the sustain or...

ED owner considering the Mark V

I had a couple Electra Dyne's and worked with them for awhile. Like you, never quite happy. Couldn't get guite enough gain and sustain going straight in, and even though I tried a number of the best pedals out there, they changed the tone too much for me. When I got the V, it was instantly...

IIC+ is the worst mode on the Mark V, IMO

Wow, I really like the IIC+ mode. I play heavy rock & blues rock, no metal etc, though. I've had a lot of Mesa's, (Mark III, IV, Lone Stars, Roadsters, Electa Dyne, etc) but never a C+, and when I got the V and got into the C+ mode, I thought yeah, now I see why the C+ is such a legend. Plenty...

    Mark V vs. Lone Stars

I used Lone Star classics & specials for a long time, and liked them a lot. Never could get quite the gain I wanted from them, but the overall tone was worth it. Once I got a Mark V, it was instantly it for me. I definately even like the clean channel 1 better on the V. It has the rich...

Hot Diggidy Dog!!! Just put EL34's in my Mark V!!!!!

I've liked EL34's in my Lonestar, Roadster, and Electra Dyne a lot better than 6L6's. When I got my Mark V, I immeadiately ordered a set of EL34's for it. Surprisingly, in the V I like the 6L6's a lot better.

    Lonestar defector

I used LoneStars both classics and specials for the last few years. Now I use Mark V's. To me the V is better for everything, with even better channel 1 clean sounds than the LoneStars. I almost can't believe how great the Mark V is!

    40TH Anniversary Mark V

I'm almost 100% certain that they only made 20 in the Sapele. I was pretty lucky to get #2, which to my understanding was the 1st one in Sapele that they made. I was told, #1 was in the Walnut, and wasn't sold, but kept by Mesa, since it was the very 1st one made. These 1st two were used for...

Running MKV in stereo w/ Lonestar Special

Can you simply run directly from the V send to the return on the LS and that's all, or do you mean going out of a stereo effect in the V's loop to the return on both amps? I've been running from the slave out of my V into a LS's return. Seems to work pretty good, but it's not stereo. Have been...

    40TH Anniversary Mark V

I don’t know the exact prices, but I know the ballpark figure to get a regular private reserve wood, wicker grill Mark V, would be around $3300. To get the most special private reserve wood, with 40th anniversary inlay on the top, special inlay on the inside, with 1 of 75, 2 of 75, etc written...

Mark V Head Serial Numbers Question

Looking at a Mark V head, and wondering when it was built. Anyone have a V Head that they know was built at a certain time to compare and see about when this one was made? The number on this one is 1316. Awesome amps!

Highly considering selling both my amps to buy a Mark V...

I think if you get a Mark V, you'll be very happy you did. I have a Lone Star Classic, and Special, and a Roadster. I just got a Mark V head, and it just blows my others away. The versatility is so much better on the V, but that's not what got me, it's the tone. I find the cleans are even...

Has anyone replaced their tubes and/or switched to EL34's?

I know exactly what you mean. I just got mine and have only had a couple hours with it so far. I've liked E34L's in my Lone Star C and Roadster a lot better, so after about 1/2 hr with it I started thinking, wow can this sound even better with E34L's like my other amps? I switched to a set of...

Kevin Eubanks using ED on JAY LENO!

I turned the Leno show on a couple of nights ago, probably about 1/2 way through the show. I just had it on but wasn't paying much attention to it since I had some other things going on. Coming out of a commercial or something, Kevin's guitar tone caught my attention. I thought, wow, sounds...
