I agree I'm really getting into channel 1 crunch mode with my strat getting some SRV tone dialed in is pretty easy. And I highly recommend the Shuguang El34 tubes instead of JJs.

Thats what I think too. The amp sounds better with the Master up around 1-2 o'clock and the Output down around 9-10 o'clock.

Which knob actually creates more gain?

I use Shuguang EL34 - a.k.a Ruby. 8) Very warm and harmonic some of the best tubes for the buck.

I use a Boss RV-3 thru the effects loop sounds great! 8)

I like the Ruby EL34s and can't remember the preamp tubes, whatever Dougs tubes suggested which is a cocktail of preamp tubes. But sounds really good definetly warmed it up tone wise.

Try swapping all the preamp tubes one at a time. I've heard people say even the v2 slot has effected volume. v4 and v5 are usually the problem though.

What a great song! Plays with great emotion and his tone is killer! I love the sound of my dueces clean channel nothing beats it in my opinion. Currently Buckethead is using the Stiletto Trident live most underrated player their is.

Thanks guys! Last night I took the chassis out of the head box and reseated all my tubes and it works again. And I played it this morning with no problems. I don't know I cleaned all the sockets with cleaner couple days ago maybe when I reseated them it helped clean the pins some more.

Ok, so I tried swapping that tube and cleaning the socket. And still no sound but when I switch the loop switch to bypass mode its really fricking loud. I have to turn my master volume down like to 8:30. I'm beginning to think its the loop switch or the send level pot. Can you clean those?

So I've loss volume on my amp when I use my pedal loop in the back of the amp. And when I switch out of the loop it back to normal volume. So I was wondering which preamp tube is tied to the loop section or can I somehow clean the loop switch?

I had a similar problem a few months back and it was a bad phase inverter tube.

I like using a MXR Boost/Line Driver thats designed by Custom audio electronics. I think the model is mc104 or mc401 doesn't say on the pedal. Anyway great for channel 1 in the crunch mode definetly gives you some added richness. You can find them on ebay pretty cheap.

The Blankenship amp "Variplex" nails it pretty much. But the head alone costs $2500-2700 comes with a variac unit so you can lower the voltage. Pretty **** cool amp! 8)

I think on the Duece channel 1 crunch mode pushed with a clean boost pedal gets really close. I haven't been in my VH mode trying to nail that tone but I think with some tweeking it could be done.

I don't like the "death cube k" stuff either its definetly weird ambianic(sp?) sounding, like it belongs to a movie sound track. I thought Buckethead playing on the new GnR cd was actually really good but Axl should have never kept the name GnR cause its not.

I think alot of people judge the book by the cover without even listening to the depth of music and guitar skills the guy has.
