    Mark V head and Greenbacks?

I have an Avatar Vintage 2x12 with the G12H30 and V30 w/ I thought I'd put the Greenbacks in. I think I'm going to give it a shot and see how it sounds.

    Mark V head and Greenbacks?

I've been using the Mark V head through a Mesa 2x12 w/ V30's. Live I never go past the 45 watt setting and usually set the amp up for clean/driven blues/roots rock tones. I just picked up a Reinhardt 18 w/ is a take off of a Marshall 20 watt w/ El84's. This was originally going to be a backup...

Finally had a chance to turn it up....with the band!!!

What did your settings look like? That's the same style of music I'm playing with my cover band. Mix in some blues/country rock.

Upgraded my MKV - tan grille

If they issue these grills out, any idea what they cost?

    Any converts from the Lonestar?

Hey Lucidology, I was wondering if you could post what you came up as with as far as settings go for your Lonestar on the Mark V. I sold my Lonestar recently and I'm enjoying the V. I really like your sound. I think we enjoy the same types of music. Any settings you'd like to share for some...

Yellowjackets w/ El84's too tall for Lonestar Head?

Does anyone know if the yellowjackets will fit ok in a fairly new Lonestar 27" head? I saw some people did it in their combo's, I didn't read where they went into a head version.

    Any converts from the Lonestar?

It's nice to see a lot of us have the same musical taste to compare sounds with. I'm a using a Gibson 339 with 57's and a PRS DGT. I need to look into the Fralin's. I'm going to do some experimenting with the settings this weekend. I'll let you know what I find.

    Any converts from the Lonestar?

Lucidology, I love the tone you were getting with the Lonestar. Have you found any Robben Ford, Carltonesque sounds out of the Mark I setting on the V yet? Some fluid, clear, less mud for the fusion jazz and blues music tones. If so, could you point me in a direction on settings? Jon

My first post and a question about getting rid of muddiness

EQ with your ears, not your eyes! Really??? That helps. If we're all so stupid why is this talked about so often throughout the posts? Thanks for the thought! I guess we don't all have your incredible ear.

My first post and a question about getting rid of muddiness

I also play classic rock and blues. What the last player said is exactly right. I was having a hard time dialing out the mud especially on the Mark I mode which is suppossed to be so incredible on this amp. Dial the bass down. There are a couple of other posts in the Mark V section that...

    Any converts from the Lonestar?

I have a LSC head that's about 1 year old. I wanted a second backup amp and decided to get the V. So far that is all I've been using to gig with. I love the tweed setting but I need a little cleaner classic blues tone so I'm working on getting the fat channel to fill those needs. I mostly...

    Mark V vs. Lonestar Clean

I own head versions of the LSC and Mark V and I think the V can get the LSC cleans. There is also a NAMM review on youtube where the marketing guy from Mesa says the Fat mode of the V was taken exclusively from the LSC clean channel. With that being said there are so many things you can do...

    Styles of Music U play w/Mark V?

The Mark V head has been a great buy. I play the standard cover band blues/country/classic rock music and the V covers it all very well. It's a great gigging amp. I haven't dialed in jazz yet but I'm sure it could pull it off as well. I'd like to experiment with some jazz fusion tones...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Thanks for the response. I'm going to give the mod a shot and see how I like it. I have a strong feeling I will.

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Ok, one more question before I take the plunge on the mod. Will I be able to get a smooth sustain with the guitar volume up and the drive engaged, think Allman's/Gov't Mule/ early ZZ Top? Not too compressed of a sound---you guys know what sound I'm talking about. Does the thick/thicker switch...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

With the mod can you get a nice overdriven crunch on ch2 without the mud? I put in el34's recently to try and clean up ch2. I play humbuckers usually and like a nice light breakup with the guitar on 6 or 7 and push the guitar volume for overdriven lead. More of roots rock sound. If the mod...

Lone Star Reeder Mod #1: Channel 2 Pot-Swap

Thanks. I'd like to give the mod a try. I need to find someone that will do it. I know jack **** about doing it myself and I live in true rural america several hours from a tech. I've read about how to do the mod. I have a friend in the band who did some pickup install for me. Same level...

Mark V through an Avatar cab?

I went for the Vintage for the slanted speaker baffle. Can I tell much? Not really, a little, but shortly after the purchase the band started wearing in ear monitors anyway. It looks cool though.

Mark V through an Avatar cab?

I switch out playing through an Avatar Vintage 2x12 and Mesa Rectifier Slant Cab. The Mark V and Lonestar heads sound very good through the Vintage 2x12 open back. Of course the Mesa cab being closed back has a more bassy bottom end. You can't go wrong with the Avatar for the price.
