    One of the firstRoadKings...

Dug out this gem for a gig last night. Hadn't used it in over 5 years. Sounded pretty good. I had it on order 4 months or so before the Roadking series was introduced, back around 2001. MeZa 8)

Mark V Combo - Slave Output to another Combo

I use a Mark V combo and do this regularly with a few other amps for bigger-venue live gigs. I'll run the Mark V Slave-out to the FX-in on the 2nd amp, and adjust the Slave level control accordingly. This allows me to run the power sections of both amps with the Mark V's preamp. I've done...

Post Your Rig! Must Include a Mark V.

If you notice on the floor, I have two Ernie ball 6166 volume pedals which I run with one foot. One to the MkV and one to the Z-Wreck. That way I can balance things out as I play, or just scream with the MkV. Actually, the Z-Wreck straight up with the MkV in lead modes doesn't get in the way...

    Ordered a TA-30 2x12...

Used the TA-30 at an outdoor gig Saturday. Sounded a little thin at times. Plus, I had the amp's volume maxed-out (ch1) w/top-boost, and it just kept up with the band. Definitely not an amp to use outdoors when you might need to crank things up. The tone was pretty nice though. Most likely it's...

    Ordered a TA-30 2x12...

Received the TA-30 yesterday. Very nice amp. Quite a bit more configurable than I was expecting. So far, I like it. MeZa 8)

    Ordered a TA-30 2x12...

Should be here a week from Monday. I live about 10 miles from Mesa Engineering, and have friends working there. There is no dealer in the area anymore, however, so I ordered from Humbucker Music back in GA. Have bought amps from them before. Nice folks. Anyway, was gigging with one of Mesa's...

    Channel 1

I'm gigging tomorrow night, and am going to use the Mark V instead of the Mark IV, to see if I really solved my problem. I'm counting on it to work! MeZa 8)

    Channel 1

Where is your overall amp master set? I found, that once I raised the overall amp master to around noon (or more), my amp became very clean and articulate, and all of the fuzziness, etc. disappeared. I now have the channel 1's gain at around 3 o'clock and the channel master at around 10 o'clock...

    Help with mark V

Play with 90W settings. Don't use the thick switch for CH2. This made all the difference for me on stage. MeZa 8)

What guitar/pickups are you using with your MarkV

I have many, many guitars; Fenders, Gibsons, Ibanez, Rick, Gretsch, Burns, Hamer, Crook, Carvin, etc. The guitars which get daily use out of all of these are the Carvins. They're my workhorses. They just play and sound better than all of the 'major' brands for me, and they 'stay in tune'. So...

    combo queston - c 90

Before you go thinking about replacing a C90, you ought to try it out. I like the sound of the one in my Mark V combo. Sounds pretty good as a matter of fact. MeZadude 8)

    Mark's and EV's

18 and 25 year old speakers in my case. I don't recall the speakers really sounding any different when the amps were new than they do today. Can't say that the aging process has changed their sound. MeZa 8)

    Mark's and EV's

I have a small, ported 1x12 cabinet built by Hermida Audio, which sports a new EVM12L. Got it around Christmas time late 2007. I used it with the Mark V combo this week. It added to the overall bass response and breadth, but didn't seem to add much else. I've used this cabinet with my Mark IV &...

no class A/B with Mark V!

I've used the Mark V on stage in 45W mode. Sure sounds like Class A to me. Lots of buzzy breakup in the tone at volume. Quote from the Mesa Mark Five website: "45 WATTS shuts down the middle pair of output tubes wired in CLASS AB and allows you to operate the output section in just the CLASS A...

    combo queston - c 90

According to the manual, mixing and mis-matching speaker impedances on the Mark V is 'allowed' and, in my interpretation, experimentation in this regard encouraged. It looks like one should feel free to try whatever one wants in the speaker department without having to worry about mis-matching...

Are you buying the Mark V Just or mainly for the IIc+?

I have a IIc & MK IV, so I don't really need to emulate (or duplicate) those sounds. I bought the Mark V because it was the latest in the line of the coolest amps in the world, and I wanted to have the best MesaBoogie has to offer in this line to date. So far, so good. The Mark V has a lot more...

Anyone here like crunch mode cranked better than IIc+?

I find it's similar to the 'Modern' mode on the Roadking; bold punch/crunch with clarity. MeZa 8)
