Put the amp and a box of baking soda in a flight case for a couple of days, and that will freshen it up nicely. If you don't have a case, use some other sealed enclosure for maximum effectiveness. 8)

+2 I usually use simul/pentode to fine tune the eq knobs and such (mainly bass and presence), and then switch to simul/triode to smooth it all out. Works great. 8)

I've been told that the 5751 is a good tube for the PI slot. Apparently it has a smoother attack than the 12AX7's. I guess this would come off as a more compressed feel. It has something to do with the transconductance being lower in the 5751, so the tube reacts slower. Haven't tried one ...
