WTB: Studio Caliber or Studio .22

Hi Guys, After 3 Boogie-less years I'm in the market again. Does anyone have (in order of preference): 1) Studio Caliber 2) Studio .22 (w/GEQ) 3) Studio .22+ That they're looking to part with? Here's hoping... W.

    Studio.22 Channel Switching question

Hi All, Since I never really use the clean channel on my Studio.22, is there any way to mod it so that it defaults to the lead channel without the footswitch engaged? Thanks in advance, W.

    Fender Esquire wiring question

Hi All, Just got hold of a Seymour Duncan CS Tapped Tele pickup and I've installed it using the SWD signature esquire wiring. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=swd_sign_esquire Having spent all afternoon playing it I've come to the conclusion that...

MKIII: Ok to ditch the fan?

Hi all, Looking at ways of shaving some weight from my MKIII (purple stripe, simul class). Any problems with losing the fan? After all, most amps do okay without one... I'm already gonna put the EV in a Thiele cab and stick an Eminence Deltalite in the combo, just wondering if I can lose any...

Changing the phase of a Tele lead pickup

Hi folks, In the process of "Hot-Rodding" my USA Standard Tele. I've got a Duncan SM-1 in the neck and a Fender Nocaster in the bridge. Having phase problems when using both pups. According to Seymour Duncans site, I can change the phase of my lead pup by cutting the small jumper wire on the...

    DC amps has overheating problem?

I've owned a Studio Caliber (early DC-2), a DC-3 and a DC-5 at one time or another. The DC-3 always used to get really hot, but I never had any reliability issues with it. Can't say I ever noticed any overheating with the other models in the range. W

Any Studio .22 users using an extension cab?

I've been thinking of doing the same thing with my .22 Take it you've had no problems using the extension speaker at the same time as the one in the combo? I've always wondered about that since there's only one extension speaker out on the back of my amp (4ohms). Wouldn't the "normal" way to...

Speaker for a MarkIIA Combo.//Got an EVM 12L

Well, both speakers were recommended to me by forum members. Someone mentioned that the 12A was similar to the Black Shadow MS-12 but the weight of the thing put me off. Emailed Eminence and received this reply this reply from A Lucas: "A lot of players have taken to our Delta Pro 12A as an...

Speaker for a MarkIIA Combo.//Got an EVM 12L

Eminence Delta Pro 12A is a very good substitute for the EVM (a tech friend of mine reckons it is nearly identical in construction). I've had good results with the Deltalite, which is the Neo version of the same speaker and will keep the weight of your amp down considerably! W.

Just taken delivery of a MKIII Purple Stripe...

...and I'm delighted :D Previously owned a Blue Stripe which was always too harsh for me (even with the III+mod and a different speaker). Never could seem to dial out the harshness. To my ears at least, the Purple Stripe is far less aggressive and the presence control is much more usable. I...

    UK Tech?

I use a guy called Steve Rowse, based in Godalming http://www.stevesamps.co.uk/ Always found him really helpful and competitively priced to boot. He's done numerous mods on my gear whilst I'm in the room trying them out. W.

    I want a Studio.22... but louder?

Finally parted company with my MKIII (blue stripe), tried various mods but the overdrive was always too aggressive for me. What I'm after is basically a Studio.22 but louder (with more clean headroom as well). Do any of the Mark amps fit the bill? Thanks in advance, W.

Studio .22 and MC90 speaker: A good match?

Anyone put an MC90 in their Studio .22? Might be able to pick one up cheap... worth doing? W.

Zinky amp users/owners?? I picked up one this weekend

Had one for a few years now. Absolutely love it :D It's a close run thing with my Studio.22 as to which is my overall fave, but the BV gets the nod for gigs due to it's cleans being more flexible.

    Mesa Nomad 45... school me!

Don't know much about these save for what I've read on Mesa's site. What's the general opinion of these amps? Any reliabilty issues? Been offered one as a trade but was really looking for an Express 25, how do the two compare? The real question is: Nomad 45 or Express 25? What do you guys...

Express 5:25 Do I get the 1x10 or the 1x12?

Thanks for the advice. One sticking point for me regarding the 12" is that I've never really been a fan of the V30. Yes, I know you can swap the speaker but I went down that route with my MKIII and was still never happy with it. This time I'm inclined to go with an amp that I'm happy with...

Express 5:25 Do I get the 1x10 or the 1x12?

Which of the two amps do you guys think is the pick of these two options? I'm possibly being swayed by the portability of the 1x10 - any significant differences in sound? The amp will be mainly for rehearsal/practice but may also see some serious gig time as well. W.

Anyone use record out to board at gigs?

My secret weapon for going direct to the board at gigs is a Palmer PDI 09 direct box. It takes the speaker output to the PA as a balanced signal and adds cabinet emulation (three types: Bright, Normal and Mellow). You then connect the speaker back to the amp via the box's thru jack. I use this...
