LSS loud vs LSC turned down CLEANS ONLY

In my experience, no. I struggle to get that "big fat headroom cleans" that you refer to at proper band volumes. Discounting low volumes for a sec, with a band the cleans are always "with hair". I suppose you could get there with swapping out high headroom valves, but stock, I would say no...

    112 combo size

There was talk a few months ago of Mesa producing a version of the ED that fits in a 5:50 sized combo. Maybe it's one of those?

    Unidentified Jack - Lonestar Special

Thanks muchly. I completed whizzed past that section of the manual when I was looking for it yesterday!

    Unidentified Jack - Lonestar Special

It is indeed a 1/4" jack and this is in addition to the reverb tank connections.

    Unidentified Jack - Lonestar Special

Okay then folks. I had the amp apart at the weekend to track down a rattle (which I found!!) and didn't reconnect the reverb tank. I noticed it at band practice and reconnected it. Whilst I was there I spotted a jack socket right next to it, but no identifying marks as to what it was. I've had a...

help please! Lonestar problem at the gig last night

Generally speaking, if it's the rectifier tube that's gone you'll lose sound on 5W and 15W, but retain sound on 30W as it uses a solid state rectifier at that setting.

Lonestars need guitars, let's see em!

Since my previous post I've got another guitar - a very nice PRS 513 and I got us to the second page!!

    AlNiCo Blue

I've got the blue's big brother in mine, the Celestion Gold. You're right, Alnico speakers seem to be a great match for the LSS!

Lonestars need pedal boards, let's see em!

Well that was weird. I saw this post and it took me a minute to realise "Hang on, that's my pedalboard. I don't remember posting piccies recently".... Yes the Superdelay is the finest delay pedal I've used and I've had most of the main ones at one point or other. It is very pricey, but is so...

    Paul Reed Smith 513

I think the neck is perfect. I tried a few other models and actually thought that the necks were a little thin - even the McCarty which was supposed to have had a wide/fat neck also. I can't say that I compared the neck joint to any of the others. It certainly doesn't get in the way though. As I...

    Paul Reed Smith 513

Hello Chaps! I made a little bit of a boo-boo a few weeks ago and bought a Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne as a "spur of the moment" purchase . Don't get me wrong the amp is terrific, but it is just too heavy (weight) and loud for me. I have had both shoulders surgically repaired and must be really...

LSC Hissing and crackling...swapped out every tube!

JJ - what a horrid situation to be in. One other thing that has come up here before is that noise can be caused by an accumulation of crap in the Effects Loop jacks. Try spraying contact cleaner in there and then inserting a jack a few times to distribute it. This may help.

New Lonestar Special - Having issues, please advise!

I'm in the UK so I can't say as to whether GC carry them or not - over here they are relatively inexpensive. You just twist the fuse holder til it pops out...

New Lonestar Special - Having issues, please advise!

Sounds like the fuse has blown. Try swapping the fuse. If it does it again, then something is causing the fuse to blow. I'm in two minds as to recommending whether you should just return it...

    Speaker Replacement in LSS (Redux)

Bit of a trek from South Carolina, but always welcome the visit... ....AND THE PINT!!! :D :D :D

    Speaker Replacement in LSS (Redux)

The most important thing is to make sure that you don't drop hot solder on the speaker itself. I've got a heatproof, flexible mat that plumbers use when soldering. Cost me a couple of quid in a hardware store. Other than that, there's nothing else that can go wrong that can't be fixed by...

    Speaker Replacement in LSS (Redux)

It's so easy to do the actual swap. Take off the two boards on the back, they just need unscrewing. Take out the reverb tank - it's held in place with a black strap which is held with a single screw. You don't need to do it, but take out the power valves. Last thing you want to do is catch those...

Question regarding the Reeder mod #1.....

This is exactly how I found the Reeder #1 mod with my LSS and have returned it to stock. It was only less warm/more harsh with the drive circuit enabled though. If you do want a complete clone of Channel 1 then it does exactly what it says on the tin. I haven't tried the mid mod

Lonestars need pedal boards, let's see em!

Unfortunately, no. It's a simple button-per-loop arrangement. There is a killer unit that does this. Check out http://www.thegigrig.com.
