    Best Cabinet for MKIV

A couple of options for you to consider if you like a "brown" high gain tone with good low end. The Theile cab is very good loaded with an Eminence Delta Pro 12A. I've tried the Theile with the C90 and EVM12L (I have two such cabs that originally came with one of each speaker). The Delta Pro is...

Mark IV: any new versions coming???

Mark IV is still one of Mesa's best amps and is a good seller. Why change it. If they do, we'll all be pining for the old version it replaced. I have an Ecstasy, Shiva, Slant 6V and 2 Mark IV heads (one a former combo). I love them all, but I only need the Mark IV; it covers the same bases. BTW...

    Similar speaker to EV 12?

The Eminence Delta Pro 12A is very good. I replaced the EVM12L in my theile 1x12 with this after replacing the C90 in another Theile cab. I now have two matched eminence DP12A cabs. This speaker has slightly more low end and is smoother than the 12L. Much less expensive than the re-issue 12L and...

Mark IV Widebody combo -- shell?

I converted my wide body combo into a head. It took 5 months to get the shell. Glad I did it.

Mark IV Combo - Compact VS. Widebody

Get the head and 1x12 Theile cab. The combo weighs a ton in either format and does not sound as good.

Mark IV Speaker replacement suggestion to make it less heavy

I bought a head shell for my combo from mesa. Weight problem solved.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

The MkIV hangs with the Bogners. I can't say I prefer one over the other. They all sound great. However, I run the MkIV through a 1x12 Theile with an Eminence Delta Pro 12A. It is similar in sound to the EVM 12L, but slightly less bright. I use a slight treble boost on the MkIV to manage the...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

I have two Mark IV's. A short head and a wide body head I just converted from a combo. I use a time machine boost in treble boost mode (1973 Vintage). I don't boost much, but the treble "boost" takes the flub out. I can crank the preamp bass control to 10 this way at low volumes with no flub...

Adding a Thiele cab, EV or Celestion??

Eminence Delta Pro 12A Sounds best to me. Similar to EVM12L but smoother highs. I have 2 Theile's, one had a EVM the other a C90. I started by replacing the C90 with the Delta Pro. I liked it so much, I replaced the EVM with one.

Channel switching issues on MkIV w/ G-System

I have the same problem and would be interested in the response from TC

Thiele cabs EV vs. Black Shadow

I have 2 thiele cabs 1 has the EVM-12L and the other I purchased later had the C90. I did not care for the C90 at all, too harsh for my tastes. I replaced the C90 with an Eminence Delta Pro 12A and am now very pleased with the sound. I prefer the Delta Pro over the EVM12L for overdriven sounds.

    Mark IV Problems.

Which of these are you using. The Mk4 draws a fair amount of current. You may not be getting enough juice to drive the amp properly.

Check the power you are getting from the step down transformer.

The truth about the Oversized Recto Cab?

I think the flub issue is more a function of the amp than the cab. I think my oversize recto cab sound great with a variety of amps, but my dual rectifier flubs easily through my EVM and C90 loaded Thiele 1x12 cabs, 1960b Marshall cab and Mesa Recto 2x12 cab.

Black Label EVM-12L versus the "Originals"

Looks like sam ash lowered the price by ~$90 to $249. You may be able to afford dialysis with the change.

Black Label EVM-12L versus the "Originals"

Are there any sonic differences between the new 300 Watt Black Label EVM-12L and the 200 Watt Black Shadow EVM-12L's that were options on Mesa Boogie gear (I have one of these in a Mark IV combo). I am interested in these new speakers, but only if they are really EVM-12L's and not something else...

Mark IV questions: Is this normal?

From your description, the presence control seems to be fine. When pushed in, it will be bolder and the control will otherwise have minimal effect thru it's range. Pulled out, the sound will be thinner and the control will be apparent thru its range. Same for channel 2. The gain pulled out is...

    Mark IV speaker comparison

That's good to know. I would like to load my Thiele cabs with the real deal. Hopefully they will be reasonably priced. Thanks for the info.

    Mark IV speaker comparison

I have the wide body combo and a short head. The EVM-12L sounds better that the C90 in the Thiele IMOP which is why I replaced the C90 with a Delta Pro. I noticed the Black Label EVM has some spec changes, e.g., higher claimed frequency response (80 - 7000Hz versus 80 - 5000Hz). So, I would...

    Mark IV speaker comparison

Just got a used Mark IV combo in mint condition for $1050 as a backup to my Mark IV short head. It was loaded with a custom 90. I happened to have a Thiele 1x12 with a EVM-12L. I also had an Eminence Delta Pro on hand which I had loaded into another Thiele cab (replacing a C90). The C90 had...
