    Effects loop for mk2a?

I have been using a Ceriatone C-Lator with my Mark IIa for a couple years. Solves any issues with using your loop. I couldn't be happier with it.

Interesting Observation Regarding My Mark II Graphic EQ

Nah. Long ago I tried the phone thing with them a few times to inquire about having my amp serviced. I was told someone would call me back, and so I got tired of waiting for the callback and had my amp serviced locally. No way I'm going to bother calling them for something like this. I could...

Interesting Observation Regarding My Mark II Graphic EQ

Recently I picked up a nice EQ/Spectrum Analyzer (TC Electronic 1128) to use in the loop of my Mark II. While playing around with it, I dialed in a preset which basically set everything flat with the exception of a mid cut in the 600hz and 800hz ranges. As an experiment I set the five band EQ on...

    King Snake Investment

In my opinion it would probably hold value over the years, but I doubt it would fetch any collector value any time soon. Take a look at prices on very old boogies. You can sometimes see them on ebay, and while they do hold monetary value they don't really appreciate like an old Marshall or...

Mark III + Big Muff pedal

With regard to all the hate for the Big Muff, I think david gilmour, and many others would tend to disagree. Yes, natural tube distortion is a thing to behold, no arguments there, I love the sound of tubes. But, there are times when other types of distortion are desirable. If I'm trying to cop a...

    EQ SLIDER NIB RESTORATION

Sounds like a good idea to avoid a costly repair of replacing the entire sliders. Would like to see some pics if possible.

Wicker cane grill on a tolex Mark I?

I remember seeing a few of them back in the day. I think I remember seeing it on the mesa price list as an option, regardless of whether you ordered hardwood or tolex. EDIT- Oops I just realized you were asking about Mark I amps. That would be a different story I think. I don't remember...

Early Mark II (1978) with original hardwood cabs. This is how I actually use it.

Mark IIA hum, need Philly area tech recommendation please!

Not philly area, but if north jersey isn't too far, you could go to Dave's Sound in Whippany, NJ. I had my Mark IIa in earlier this year and he did great work.

Lead Drive control on Mark IIb weak

The lead drive control will definitely be affected by how high or low you set the volume 1 control. Generally speaking, with your volume one set to 4 or 5 I think you would have to get your lead drive up over 6 before it really starts to break up nicely. It also depends on what tubes you are...

    Mark III

Wow bummer. Seeing as how Mesa charges a premium price for their service you should EXPECT premium service. That sounds completely unacceptable and you should demand they fix the situation. I would be on the phone with them as soon as possible to get it straightened out.

    Vintage 30 China - LOTTERY - samples

Did you consider maybe the bad sound was because the speakers were brand new? I bought some new speakers for my Mark II about 1 1/2 years ago and it took a little while to break them in. The more I used them the better they sounded. I am not familiar with the chinese celestions but I think...

    MKII Glitches?

I own an early Mark IIA and yes the volume controls as well as the tone controls are very quirky. It can take a while to find good tones, but once you find them it's all good. As far as the footswitch issue, it's a given on these amps that they will make that pop sound, however if you stop...

your favourite settings on MkII A B C

Here's my standard setting for my Mark IIA. I use 2x12 cab loaded with greenback clones. Guitar is a Stratocaster with vintage 1974 single coils. The only knob that is pulled is the lead master bright switch and I use no presence. Also, I run a 15 band eq in the loop, pic included. My Mark IIA...

    Mark IIB Coliseum Questions

A broken fader will most likely be a rather time consuming repair. My amp tech told me to take care of my faders because it involves taking the front panel off if you need to replace one. I would guess that means you would have to detach every pot and switch on the front panel, but I could be wrong.

    Mark IIB Retube Recommendation

I have a Mark IIA non reverb and here's my tubes of choice: V! Tung Sol 12ax7 V2 JJ 12ax7 or Chinese 12ax7 V3 JJ12ax7 or Chinese 12ax7 V4 On my amp this is the phase inverter tube. For this one I found great results with the Sovtek 12ax7LPS. This tube really stands out when I use it...

Who else Saw this on ebay???

Me personally, I would never pay that much for it, and most likely wouldn't pay that much for any amp. However, if you look at other collectible amps such as old rare Marshalls which I've seen priced as high as $31,000.00, maybe $9k doesn't seem like so much for such a rare Mesa?

Question about Treble Shift on Mk IIB

I don't know if this will help but I have a Mark IIA and the treble shift affects both channels.

    Tubes, heat and cooling fans

I know back in the day the 60 watt Mark amps didn't come with fans. My original cyclone fan has become somewhat noisy and I'm now looking for a suitable replacement. My amp tech suggested I might want to try a 220 volt fan hooked up to 110 volts. It would supposedly be a lot quieter than a 110...

Four heads are better than one

Those look very nice. Can I ask, what kind of fans are you using? I am thinking of replacing a noisy fan in my Mark II head.
