Thanks Jackie,
I appreciate you sharing. BTW, I'm using a version 1 triaxis... I get the voicing settings on the 2:90, but what are the settings for Lead 2 Red?
I have a 5150 combo which I've had for almost 20 years and love. I also have a love affair with my Triaxis/2:90 combination thru a 5150 4x12 cabinet. Do any of you Triaxis/ 2:90 users have any setting I can use as a starting point to achieve the "brown sound"? Yes, I know they are two entirely...
I'm planning on retubing both devices. (I contacted Mesa and they said not to worry about the 12AX7's inside the 2:90.) My plan was to retube the Triaxis with standard JJ's but I'm not sure about the 6L6's. I've read every post I could find and contacted The Tube Store and Tube Depot. I'm...
I had the same issue with my triaxis. I had to send it back to Mesa 3 times within the last year. My triaxis would " flake out" and scramble indiscriminately to where it became too unreliable. The solution is to send it to Mesa attention John Marshall. Try to avoid Rich Duvall as much as...
I just purchased it and had it professionally installed on a Music Man Axis because the wiring diagram is nebulous at best to try to do it yourself. After a day, I noticed 2 huge headaches:
1) These pots are not "audio taper pots" which lower volume consistently over the entire knob turn...
I am the original owner of a 5150 Combo circa mid 90's. Of late, the reverb is getting weaker and weaker. Upon examination when I dropped the chassie to inspect, I noticed only one reverb spring left. I guess the others rusted and fell out over all the years of moving the amp. Does anyone know...
Bluestometal: Thank you for taking the time to address this. I agree it's a "tomato - tomaahto" thing as you stated. I appreciate your clear and easy to understand observations. Thanks! I think I may keep the FX looped and forego the ability to spillover certain FX.
I'm looking for opinions to this question: I currently us my FX looped thru the Triaxis and it seems OK. I've read that putting the FX between the Triaxis and 2:90 is another option. Would any of you care the share the positives and negatives of each configuration? My Triaxis currently at Mesa...
I pulled the unit, checked the battery (OK), and popped the ribbon cables. I used contact cleaner on the prongs and reset the cable plug. I'm doing a burn in right now. Seems to be working fine. I wonder if because it sat so long the ribbon cable plug had become fouled by humidity.
In May of 2010, I shipped my older Triaxis back to Mesa for a complete overhaul including a new ribbon cable, some solders and a new touchpad membrane. Mesa gave it a clean bill of health and everything seemed to work perfect. This unit sat in a rack untouched and has under 24 hours of use over...
I have a minor question about the 2:90...
I know the 2:90 has an internal 12AX7 inside the unit which lasts a long time. When this tube is failing, how does it manifest itself so I truly know the tube is the issue and not something else? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Last year I had the touchpad membrane replaced on my Triaxis by Mesa in Pentaluma. It was not expensive. I cannot attest to a "green" color or aftermarket price. I would recommend calling Mesa to find out how it's done because it looks like it could get messy if done improperly especially the...
