    DR w/ 2-6l6 and 2-EL34

good looking out...that's why I asked! I have been using the EL34s for a while now, but I want to revisit my 6L6s to see what I changed. I'll do that this weekend. Maybe I'll try plucking in some new preamps and see what happens instead. I know this is probably dumb, but it would be unsafe...

    DR w/ 2-6l6 and 2-EL34

I have heard of this before and want to try it. Would I switch the bias to 6L6 or EL34 position? Or do I have to actaully have the bias set? Anyone try this? I am kinda of looking for a mix between both sounds...seems logical to achieve with 2 of each of them!

    Crate V32H Palomino

That's what I've heard, just looking for more confirmations. I like the looks of the blonde/gold Palomino....Might have to get one with the Tax return $! ...or maybe I'll just look for a Mark III Blue stripe head!

    Crate V32H Palomino

The V32H Palomino I played had one clean, one o/d, and a boost.

    Crate V32H Palomino

I played one of these the other day, a head/2x12 cab, and I can't get it out of my ears. I think it sounded great! 30watts EL-84 "class A" (maybe just badging) for under $800! I used an american Tele...talk about tone. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the V30H and the V32H...

Help from anybody who's done Serial Mod

I had mine modded, was too scared to touch her myself when she was new. There is some bleed, but only noticable when the amp is turned up (say a gig w/o a sound guy). I have my tuner and a volume pedal in the loop and with the tuner on and vomue pedal to 0, I can still hear some through. I...

OMG OMG OMG check this out... read it.

As far as the serial number goes, I think this is just a IIC. I looked on some webpages that claim anywhere from 11xxx to 14xxx are IIC+, however the start serial number from M/B is 125xx, and some odd number just prior to that number may also be C+. A good friend of mine purchased a 12494...

Parallel to Series conversions... alternative solutions?

It was a shop minimum...i think like $45 I'm not an amp tech, but from what I know I believe the only way to convert it is to do the mod. Which like I said, isn't very intrusive and can be reversed. I still have the solo control, but not the fx loop switching, which may matter to some...

Parallel to Series conversions... alternative solutions?

nosajwp, There was still a small amount of dry signal, trust me. Or else I wouldn't have modded my amp. PDad, All the backpacks have to be on the same frequency in order for them to go through the same receiver. Because of this, only one can be on at a time...if you leave one on, you get a...

Parallel to Series conversions... alternative solutions?

I had my DR modded to series at a Mesa Auth repair shop, so it was a mod that came right from Mesa...which is aslo completely reversable. I needed mine modded so that I could use my volume pedal in the fx to completely cut the signal. When it was parallel with the wet/dry at 100%, there was...

    BBE Sonic Maximizer Question

I like my 882i, I think it adds a little flavor. I run my in the fx loop of my dual rect, but mine is modded from parallel to series (not just for the 882i, though). And there are tons of Boogie artists who use them. I think it adds a lot in the clean. And yes you could dick around with an...

    Mesa Amps in General

I've played those Crate V series...30, 15 and 5. They sound great!! Good lil amp for those natural warm blues tones. I think sometimes that Mesa has slowly wandered away from that good warm tube tone. Don't get me wrong, the high watt, high gain Mesa crunch is uncomparable, but there are so...

How do you hear yourself on stage???

there is a lot of good advise here, but Jazz, when it comes down to it, if you are not mic'ed you will never sound as good as you do at practice. I have similar concerns w/ my 3ch dual, and I noticed at practice if I listen directly in front about 6feet away it loses all the mesa low end...and...
