    VoodooMan Switches

That "shipping label" thing is one of his standard stall tactics. I got that notification five days after I ordered. Still took 6 weeks to get the switch, and no movement at all until I basically demanded that PayPal refund the money. The two constants in this guy's life are that there's always...

Installation of a EVM 12L in a MarkIV Wide Body Combo

In my Mk. III, the main issue was that if you don't rotate the EV just right, it will hit one or more of the preamp tubes. The hole was big enough, though it was a snug fit.

    VoodooMan Switches

Guys, you can see my saga back on the earlier pages, but essentially, here's how my Voodooman ordeal played out: 7/25 - Ordered "In Stock" switch from site and paid in full. 8/5 - Got a "Shipping info received" notice like you got. At the time, I though ten days to ship an "In Stock" item...

Mark III - Lead channel gain influenced by R1/R2 switch

My green does it, too. I can switch R2 on and off in Lead mode and the difference is quite noticeable.

    rehersal recording

I don't have either, but know people with the H2 and the H4. I believe both have a lower gain mode or limiter that allows you to record pretty loud music without clipping. Most of the people who bought the H2 wish they had spent more for the 4. If you're just looking to have a reference to...

running a IV into a Fender combo?

Yes, this seems like the easiest thing to do. Just plug the Fender's speaker(s) into the Boogie. If the cord from the speaker is not long enough, I have used another speaker cable and a 1/4" coupler to make the distance.

    Reverb not working

Reverb tanks are cheap enough that it's worth replacing it rather than trying to repair it. The most common problem is a wire coming loose from one of the little transformers in the tank, though it may not be visible. If you have a known good tank you can try, you might try that. Also try...

Help - Rectifier Cab mic setup

The suggestion to try a mix of direct an mic'ed is good one, as is taking the head shell off the 58. They do have a different frequency response from the 57, due almost entirely to the head shell. And as others have said, I usually find a sweet spot somewhere in the span of the cone, rather...

    First recording with a Mesa

Your kid plays very well. I wish I had started that young. I didn't even seriously pick up a guitar till I was like 16. My nephew, OTOH, started playing at 9 (I picked out the gear his parents bought him), and at 14 is pretty danged good. I only see him about twice a year, so it's always amazing...

    R2 Mod

He really wouldn't, I don't think. I haven't done mine yet, but I'm no electronics tech, and I have confidence that I can do it. It literally is just cutting a pot in where two resistors are now. I don't have the link, but there is a thread with very clear before and after pics with the...

    Mark. III & V30 speakers?

Well, my favourite speaker with a Mark is the EVM, without a doubt. That said, the 2x12 cab I have with V30's in it sounds _good_ with my Mk. III, but different. It's a little less efficient/loud sounding to me, with less on the top and the bottom. V30's would probably be a good choice if you...

newb Mark 3 owner... Tube Question.

I've bought tubes from Eurotubes for many amps, from Marshall to Boogie to Crate, and he always sends me good stuff and fast. When I got this Mark III, the previous owner had bought a complete set of JJ's from Bob with four 6L6's, because they wanted to emphasize the clean. I wrote him and told...
