Mark V25. Is crunch louder than anything on channel 2

Yes you are correct it is louder, it evens out at about 12:00 on the master and i find that 9:00 on crunch equals about 11:00 on ch. 2. i think the gain stages on crunch vs. ch. 2 are pretty consistant but ch. 2 sounds are more compressed in general.

MARK FIVE 25 TONE SETTINGS THREAD

Crunch and MK II....eq off....sliders set flat...25W(both) I'm using the cabclone pretty much for everything except an ACTUAL recording session so .these settings should be taken in that context it's being sent to a yamaha AW4416(a cheaper version of an O2R digital mixer)with the eq set as a...

Better Tone and Feel from your Modeler

I played a Blue voodoo 6212(2x12 combo) that sounded great BUT every other blue voodoo i've ever played sucked balls :? ....i have a friend that has one of the black ones and it sounds pretty good as long as you don't crank it... :(

Better Tone and Feel from your Modeler

Actually.....i expected that kind of response from someone......if there's no glowing glass it can't be good...blah,blah,blah  but seriously you shouldn't knock it 'till you've tried it......

Better Tone and Feel from your Modeler

While i'm currently using an X3 Live i see no reason this couldn't work with any other modeler or for that matter any kind of non-tube amp/preamp. Awhile back i figured out that using my line 6 amps onboard graphic eq to tame the highs allowed me to get stupid loud and still have a totally...

    Recto gain saturation

Why?...it's a legitimate question that IMO far too FEW guitarists are asking themselves and so they play a G minor chord and all the audience hears is a wall of mush.

    Recto gain saturation

Ok dude.....i think you're confusing gain saturation and sustain. they are different.....IME the only way to get SUSTAIN from a recto is to crank the power section and get most of you're overdrive there BUT at best you're looking at master of puppet's type heaviness and having to run the mids...

    Recto gain saturation

What makes me think that is the fact that I used a THD Hotplate and cranked the power section into heavy distortion and everywhere in between, and there wasn't one usable sound in distorting the power section. It's a flubby, mushy, blob. Clean power section on a Recto FTW. May sound good on...

    Recto gain saturation

and what exactly gives you the impression that a recto was intended to be run with a clean power section? just because it has 5 stages of preamp gain shouldn't autamatically lead you to that conclusion. in the early mark series manuals it does talk about turning the master to 2.5 but i think...

best options for mic'ing DR ?

Keep in mind that an Sm 57 will start rolling off lowend around 200Hz so if you're looking for that really deep lowend you might prefer something more along the lines of a Sennhieser MD 421......However i've gotten some pretty killer tone from a 57 dead center 4 inches away from the cloth with...

Your opinion on C90's and Mark V

The c90 is just a slightly modified classic lead 80......a very neutral speaker that doesn't really have any boosts or cuts....but it isn't for everyone. personally i use the c90 for everything from my Recto to my modeling amp.

    6L6 Ruby power tubes

I had some in my rectoverb for awhile and they had a noticeable scoop to the mids and made my amp sound more fizzy in the distortion channels....but were fairly bright had lot's of headroom and produced a lot of overdrive when pushed hard.

Turning down the presence knob to zero on a Recto

to me running the prescense on anything other than zero just makes it bright and thin......but then again i run my recto different than most with a balanced eq w/ a lot of mids dialed in and about 95+% power tube distortion(gain 8:30/master 12:00/output 3:00). i also run a 1x12 and a 2x12 C-90...

How many guitars do you use in your setup?

we just tune down to D and drop the low string to C for songs that require it much simpler than using a bunch of different guitars.......i use GHS boomer .009's
