Thanks,

I saw these pics at petrucci´s website and had to try same mic placement.
I place shure and sennheiser like that, and record two stripes.
Shure is the main sound and sennheiser about 20-30%
Two takes, 1 guitar on right, 1 on left

I mic almost in that exact spot except mine is a bit off axis

+1

Me too, a bit off axis towards the speaker cone and i might favor the speaker edge a little more but this is knit picking.

BTW nexus. Sounds great!!

I really think that spot is the most balanced spot whatsoever, really. I'm just a bit impressed that petrucci usually don't add any EQ on the board, coz when I'm using this position, I have to add a bit height

Thanks guys!

Thats great that Petrucci has that tone and thats it, without eq.
I´m trying to do same thing, but it´s so hard to find recording tone that sounds good at the room, while playing.

Someone told me, that most guitars has eq lowcut at 100hz (at the mix)
so it gives space to bass, but i don´t understand that... if Petrucci boosts 80hz and never use eq after.

Sounds amazing man, do you mind sharing your settings?? Particularly interested in your EQ settings on the G force??

Sounds great keep up the good work!!

that's the best triaxis tone i've heard on this forum!
sorry, just thought I'd post AGAIN since I love the tone so much

Thanks Nick_cor!!!
you can post those kind of words even hundred times if you want to... allways nice to hear.

Maybe we must take another round of comments with these few users

Not so many comments yet

Any suggestions what to record next time ??

SETTINGS for the riffs:
2:90 deep/modern ON
presence about two o´clock

Triaxis LD2 yellow
Gain 8 treble 8 middle 4,5 bass 3 lead2 8 master 4 presence 7.5 DV 7,5

G-force EQ
I tried something like V-Shape here too, and had to take a look of mark series amps... so parameters for g-force are:
79.43Hz
bw 0.8 oct
gain 4,5 db

749.9Hz
bw 0.63 oct
gain - 7.0 db

6.49 KHz
bw 0.8 oct
gain 4.0 db

hey sounds good, I tried same settings, so you still hvae the Dv on 7.5 and the extra g force eq? not to much you think?

cool sound and very well played!

these cabs you see in the pictures aren´t connected at the show, so the mics in front are only for the look.
john´s cabs and mics are standing behind his setup and they are covered with a blanket.

hi lennyx,

Yes, i have Dv on 7,5. That works to me.
It can be sometimes too much, just try to set dv between 3,5-7,5.

7,5 sounds good at my homestudio, with low levels. And if you are recording, mic placement makes a huge difference...
