    Anyone Voodoo Modded their Recto?

+1 to everything posted in this thread.

    Anyone here order those Eurotubes...

I wasn't crazy about the JJ preamp tubes...too dark for me. I just slapped a quad set of SED 6L6's in my Road King and REALLY like the tone a lot. So to answer your original question...no. (Sorry for the derail. )

    rectifier tones

I found my Road King's bass response changes dramatically with volume. Don't be afraid to turn it down, especially at gig levels as it will tighten up a bunch. If you want the extra "thump", keep the bass knob at around 9:00 and put an EQ in the loop. I've used a GE-7 with the 110kz slider...

I wasn't correcting just you...so there. And to be fair and equal, 20thcenturyboy...you spelled ****** wrong.

    help with tripple rectifier

Well I'm a little rusty with my innarweb slang, but I'll try. I think he played his triple rec one day and it sounded fine...then on another day, he fired it up and it made a buzzing noise. Then, in an unfortunate turn of events, his apparent lack of spelling and grammar made a few heads hurt...

If we're going to correct him...let's at least try to spell it correctly: Grammar Carry on.

    Road King Tubes...

According to my amp tech (and an authorized Mesa repair tech), Adam is correct. I run 2 EL 34's, then there are 2 KT66's, and then 2 6L6's.

help me to fix the roadking problem, thanks!

Overture2005, does it do it regardless of your power tube selections? There was a known bug regarding the Pentode/Triode switch frying...but if that isn't it and you are still able to use the same tube selection on ch1 and 2 with no problem...sounds like the LDR bug. FYI, any of those bugs...

    Road King Tubes...

I believe that is the case...I've mixed 6L6's with KT66's in mine. As long as they are duets it should be good to go.

    Mesa Fixed bias...

Yes...I had it done by Voodoo Amps. I'm currently using Ruby EL34 BSTR, and KT66's in place of the 6L6's. In the V1,2,and 3, I'm using the 9th generation Chinese 12ax7's...in the PI I've got a 12AT7 and a EH12ax7 in V5. That pretty much nails the tonal spectrum I was after...however, I'm...

A good modern Wah for the Rectos?

Battery Acid...it'll leave a really cool look afterwards.

A good modern Wah for the Rectos?

David, No problem. I chose the Bad Horsie only due to the contour feature as it suits my feeble wah needs. (One song in my setlist requires it.) The contour feature was exactly what the doc ordered. The Tremonti wah is a REALLY good sounding wah...hopefully his work with Alter...

A good modern Wah for the Rectos?

Most upper end wah's should do fine... That being said, I just bagged my Dunlop Fasel for a Morley Bad Horsie II. I found that the Morley's seem to respond better to high gain than some of the vintage type stuff I've tried. On the other hand, if you run less gain or if you're playing...

    Mesa Fixed bias...

Thanks Dale...that's sort of what I thought. I just realized that I need to re-tube my Road King and I need to explain that to my tech. (If he doesn't already know.)
  15. E

    Mesa Fixed bias...

Dale, does this mean that there will be crossover distortion everytime a mode is changed? Would a workaround be setting the bias for the "hottest" mode (Bold/Diode/Modern) and just accepting that it will run a little cooler on the lower settings (i.e., Spongy/Tube/Vintage)? ...or am I...

    MultiEffects unit for Roadking.

Sorry, took me awhile to see this... Here's how I have my Road King setup: I run a G-Major in my loop (sometimes Parallel, sometimes Serial, depends on my mood). I use the Behringer to call up certain patches on the G-Major. Since the Road King is a 4 channel amp, with solo boosts and...

    Best pedal with your boogie?

I've got a Keeley Compressor that sounds great with my Road King...especially on the cleans.

New PRS Custom 24 sounded great thru the Mark IIC+

...everything sounds good through a IIc+.

Watch Out! (The recall/"Ive had a problem" thread!

I had to have the pentode/triode switch in my Road King replaced. One day I flipped the switch and smelled this really bad burning odor...then the sound from my amp just stopped. I switched to 6L6 mode and it was all better. Mesa knew of the problem because my amp tech had the replacement...
