i was just running it into the front end of my Rivera Venus 5 with the tone stack at noon and running it thru a Mesa 2x12 vertical cab with v30's. No reason why you can't run it into the FX loop return of an amp and bypass the preamp.

i just build a custom OD pedal for someone and did a quick sound demo before packing it up. There are two ODs here: right side is a Timmy and the left side is a modified Tube Screamer. Ran this on the mark V channel 1 fat mode in "normal" mode and flat EQ. http://youtu.be/doq-hz3n5n8

i've had good luck with a modified tube screamer and a few other boosts. my go-to tone now is using a FET booster into channel 2 edge or channel 3 c+ or mark IV

haven't tried a BB, but I have a few pedals that i use as a boost (diy EP , dingotone HZD boost, diy OCD, and a modded tube screamer) and they all work great. i love channel 2 edge mode with a boost. you still get that "urgency" but with a bit more saturation. mkII c+ is great too.. roll back...
