Turning to the Dark Side... [ VHT content ]

Just wanted to post, post-honeymoon stage. I love this amp more than ever. It's totally versatile and doesn't have a bad sound in it. If my knobs get bumped ( by my 4 year old ), I can just set 'em all to 12 o'clock and rock on. The fx loop is killer, the channels are perfect. The clean channel...

Turning to the Dark Side... [ VHT content ]

I couldn't hardly believe this and you probably won't either. This VHT I bought sounds awesome x 3 but it was making some odd noises. I took it apart, poked around, read some PDFs from VHT.com and it turns out someone had put the wrong kind of tube in the reverb driver. Gahyness! I made an...

Turning to the Dark Side... [ VHT content ]

Well I got the PittBull 45 last week. I Fuc%in love it! The Triaxis + 2:Ninety was supposed to be the end-all amp and maybe I just didn't quite know how to work it ( even after 8 years of tweaking? Not likely ). I was never truly happy with the Triaxis rig. I can't find a shitty setting on this...

Turning to the Dark Side... [ VHT content ]

I kinda got the impression I wasn't going to get super death metal grinding gain out of it and my taste for that stuff has waned considerably over the last few years so I'm sure I'll need a pedal to pull that off. I'm actually looking forward to the medium gain/super clean thing. Since I...

    software recommendations

For drums, if you can't afford Superior 2.0, I'd very highly recommend XLN Audio Addictive Drums. It s only slightly more than EZ Drummer and they have a free demo ( one kit, can't save ). If you want samples of some bad-*** tunes using it in a Prog/Math Metal format, check out the 'Rate My...

Turning to the Dark Side... [ VHT content ]

So I sold my Triaxis and my 2:Ninety... As a predominantly bedroom player and occasional live jam guy, at this point anyway, I thought the Triaxis was... overkill ( pun intended ). So, I shopped around for a combo and kinda fell into a deal on a VHT PittBull 45 w/2x10's. It hasn't arrived yet...

    Ampeg VL-503

He fellow Ohio dudes! My friend bought that 503 from 5th Ave. Small world eh? It's a pretty nice amp. More features than a Ron Popeil special. My friend got the combo and this http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc218/metal_terrorist/AmpegRig/AmpegRig-026.jpg 2x12 with it for $575. He only...

Fizzy Lifter (Weber Beam Blocker alternative)

If one were to use the dust caps, say a 5" poly one, could you just staple/pin/glue it on the inbside of the grill cloth in front of the speaker? Also, how do you know what size to get? Anyone got the diameter for the beam blocker?

    'Blending' Two Pres

I've been contemplating the dual preamp setup for a few days myself. Looking at maybe my Triaxis plus a modded ADA MP-1. I was gonna keep it much simpler than you guys and just run each pre into it's own channel on a 20/20 and then each out of the 20/20 to a half of a 4x12 cab. So it'd be like...

Anyone try an EMG 85 or 707 in the bridge?

I used an 85 in the bridge of my Silhouette for years. I liked it better than the 81 cause it gave a rounder, fuller sound. Wasn't as tight on the low-end as the 81 was and the high end might have been a little darker but the Triaxis is tight and full of mids and highs so it matched up nicely.
