Mesa or Fender for ultra cleans

For cleans my LSS beats out my stock 75 Fender PR. No comparison.

    Lonestar Special

I have have had two, and currently have one. Yes, I have found, based on the two that I have had they do in fact blow rectifier tubes very easily. The first one I bought, about a year and half ago, was new from a dealer. Within about 6 weeks, it blew four or five rectifiers, plus the fuses. I...

    LSS Rectifier Issue - Info

I simply switched to a Sovtek 5Y3 and the problem is solved, so far at least. I've had the amp about 2 months now and within 2 days of getting it (it was used, but less than a year old and the previous owner didn't use Mesa tubes in it) it blew the Mesa 5Y3. After speaking to the techs at the...

    Mesa Tubes

When I decided to get another LSS, I was praying that I was not going to experience the same issue with the rectifier and fuses blowing after only hours or days of playing. My prayers went unanswered. So I went to the store where the amp was purchased, as they are also a Mesa authorized repair...

LSC vs Fender Super Sonic 22

Amp builders are very concerned what their amps are made of. That is why the good ones tell you what's inside and out!! Yeah, I agree with what you are saying (writing). I just don't think that is still good justification to not get the amp that sounds good to YOUR ears. If the poster buys...

LSC vs Fender Super Sonic 22

Personally, I don't think there is ANY comparison between these two amps The LSC is leaps and bounds better in just about every regard, from components, to versatility, to tone. I tested out the Supersonic 22 as well, right around the same time that I was thinking of getting a Lonestar Special...

Lonestar blowing fuses due to faulty rectifier tube

Try putting a Sovtek or other non-Mesa branded rectifier in it. The LSS has that problem with Mesa branded 5Y3 tubes. Sovtek solved the problem. That is not a 5y3 in the Classic, is it?

New guy and I have a questions

Yes, it does way a ton. Why not sell it or try to find someone to trade for a single 112 LSS. I have the 112, and at 59Lbs, I certainly wouldn't want the heft of the 212. Taking a speaker out will change the sound, alot, and not for the better.

    Lonestar Special Critically Ill

And the Sovtek is still going.....

    Lonestar Special Critically Ill

Try a Sovtek. They are robust. I know of at least 3 other LSS users who are all using their 5Y3. Mine has been in there about 3 weeks now and it's still going, and that is with fairly regular playing.

help with my lonestar special 1x12

You must have an older Mesa branded 5Y3 as the the current 5Y3 is Chinese made.

help with my lonestar special 1x12

That's an older amp, for sure. The serial number designation that is identified as being the end of the problem, was around 4400 and below. Above that, Mesa apparently fixed the problem. Lousy tubes are not Mesa's problem, but then they shouldn't be seeling lousy tubes with their name on...
