According to the schematics, earlier 2ch solo heads have 1 Meg gain pots. The 3ch model has 250K gain pots in the overdrive channels. Maybe this is a big reason why many of the 2ch solo heads sound different in comparison to the 3ch amp.
 
Very interesting.

I've often wondered if the presence pots on the 2 channel had different tapers on the modern modes from the modern on the 3rd channel of a 3 channel as well.

That said just heard a quickie Line 6 Backtrack recording of of our last practice and must say my 3 channel sounded fantastic!

The 3 channel heads sound awesome! They have a 100k presence pot in the red channel. 2ch has 25k.
