Hey guys, Im currently running a Dual rectifier and also a Mini for the smaller gigs. Ive recently been digging the sound of the EH "Big muff" (yes i still laugh at the name) as a nice warm rythym tone. Im wondering if any of you have used it with a rectifier before and if so how did it sound?

In particular ill be using it on the gain channel as sort of a low end boost but also to boost the gain and add some of that fuzz feel to bring the amp over the top to accentuate parts within songs. Have any of you tried this? Does adding it to an already overdriven amp still let that fuzz tone and feel come thru or was it just over the top noise? I dont want to have to switch to the clean channel to turn it on as the song changes are too quick for that but i also dont want it on all the time as my overdrive sound as the fuzz wont lend itself well to trem picked rythyms.

As there arent any good youtube demos of it on an overdriven amp i thought id ask here.

I know this might be a bit complicated to answer but any info is much appreciated!

Forgot to mention this is the type of stuff ill be playing! Might not be everyones cup of tea though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dfBLmdSfHw

Aye that is me playing! My band is called "Wound Upon Wound". Our FB is here if you wanna check us out properly! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wound-Upon-Wound/163973086969746

I use my Tube Driver into clean and dirty channels, and also with OD in front of the Fuzz. It generally sounds good in any configuration, but the tone does change.

I pretty much always get the low end boost, but running into a distorted channel tends to smooth out the fuzz with the settings I use. I think that if you tune it specifically for that channel, it will do what you want.

Thanks a million for the great feedback guys!! We really appreciate the support! Ill post in this thread when the album is availible.

As far as the muff goes, Yeah ill be tuning the pedal for use with the distorted channels but im just wondering will it retain that fuzz pick attack and the low end boost? Im pretty sure it will do what i want but i just wanted to see if anyone had tried it!

I just tried this with my own Recto and it worked fine. In to the gain channel (Modern, gain 12:00) it gives it a low end boost, created more of a square wave fuzz tone and obliterated my palm mutes in the way that the Big Muff is known for. Basically, it sounds like a 900lb fuzz bomb went off in my guitar room.
