Hi
Since I sold my MKIV I have been longing a multi channel set up.
I run into a Quad preamp at a local store & tried it out.

I was looking for a good clean tone (Fenderish), Crunch Rhythm (AC/DC)
and High gain smooth liquid lead (John Sykes type tone)

I have to ask because the unit seemed quite dull , with very little gain.
just how much gain does the Quad pramp have ?

The unit did not enough gain for Old school Hard rock /Metal
No gain for lead.
So im wondering if anyone has sound clips of the unit ?

I have the Quad and the unit def. has tons of gain, it's comparable to a Mark IIC+ and/or Mark IV. It's possible that the unit in the store simply needs new tubes...

+1

I also thought the Quad didn't have enough gain when I first got the it (I purchased it as my first Mesa/Boogie without hearing it). Then I learned how to dial it in and now I can set it so it is untamable to the point of which I keep the drive settings below 5 and the input volume and treble below 8.

Print out the manual at the Boogie website and try the sample settings on the Quad. They should do the trick. Othewise, it may need new tubes.
