i plan on retubing my nomad 55 2x12 with EL34's for more contrast with my 6L6 equipped 3-channel triple recto.
i play a variety of different styles/guitars and i want to further diversify my rig with this tube change...which is why i bought the nomad in the first place...to have a non-rectified EL-34 equipped boogie. but i figured i might as well burn the tubes it came with for a while.
anyway...
i'm wanting to get a more bogner-ish helmet inspired tone out of the third (red) channel...and a more rock-ish, vox-esque dean deleo crunch out of the second (orange) channel. that being said...i'm using those terms as a reference. i can nearly get the tone i have in my head, but i figure i can get closer with the EL-34 swap.
anyone using this type of set-up or attained the tone i've described?
also, if anyone has more insight (pre-amp tubes etc.) for these types of sounds i'd greatly appreciate it.
recto or not i'd like to hear feedback from everyone's EL-34 experience.
peece.
