mk3 issue help!

Hi folks,new to this awesome boogieboard! I need help regarding an issue with my mark3 blue str. simul/geq combo. I ran el34 out and 6l6 inside and one day tried all 6l6's just out of curiosity. Sounded great but I preferred 34's in the outside,so I swap the outer 6l6's back to 34's (amp was off during swap) light her up and get loud hum followed by "that burning smell". Immediately turn amp off,swap new 34's in the outers and same frigging thing. Went back to 6l6's in the outers and wouldn't you know it, the thing works like a charm,but I want those 34's back in the outers any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well if I had the burning smell I would not use the amp until I pulled it out and looked to see what burnt. Check you're grid resisitors, and the whole board for that matter.

Make sure pins 1 and 8 are connected on the outer sockets, follow dave62's advice and check the 470 Ohm and 2K7 screen resistors and throw out those EL34's. There toast.
