Mark I, II, III, IV, V...why?

So, in fact, you are going backwards; IV to a III, to possibly a II :? Makes me think that you want something not as complicated ,too!(not trying to be a douche!) Although, my amp tech said the Mark V is much more comprehensible than the IV. And it does appear that way. At least the front...

Mark I, II, III, IV, V...why?

I really appreciate everyone's opinions, which is why I started this thread. I used to use a Fender Super Reverb as my main rig. It was a re-issue. I played it next to some friends who had the real vintage ones and they also played mine and found pretty much no difference. Every amp has it's own...

Non Metal Mark IV users?? Are there any?

I just saw some footage of the Stones using a bunch of Mesa's. And a pic in our newspaper yesterday had Ringo with a wall of Mesa speakers behind him. 8)

    Music Man Amps

We have a fantastic technician here in Rochester, NY. John Nau of Nau Engineering. Very fair on price and labor. Everyone in the area knows about him if he/she owns an amp. He also makes his own Nau amps, and has made some amazing mods to all kinds of tube amps. Except the cheap made in China...

Mark I, II, III, IV, V...why?

I saw a very well written amp troubleshooting article online recently. It's written by a certified repair tech. He said he thinks Mesa Boogie is over priced, over weight(that's true!), over hyped, and have way too many knobs and options. His argument is that if the Mark I was such a great amp...

6V6's with a Mark IV whats the deal?

I dig the el34's outside, but I would think you might like 6l6's in all 4 if you shred. 6v6 are not gonna make that big of a difference and will also limit your options for settings on the amp, (although, sometimes I think there are too many choices already!!)

    Mark IV Crazy Cool!

After some time now getting to know the MarkIV, I have decided that the lead channel is unnecessary, at least for me. I don't play anything that needs that much gain. I wish the footswitch was smaller. Can the channels be switched with regular on/off switches via the jacks in the back panel...

    Music Man Amps

I actually get pretty good drive out of it, and use pedals also. What seems to have happened is I burned out the screen grid resistor. Taking it to a guru tech in a few days. Hope it's fixable!!!!!!!!!

    Music Man Amps

and so my MusicMan blew up on a gig last week. Fuse blew, replaced it, turned on lower power, no sound, then smoke. Not sure what happened??

    Mark IV sample settings

I feel the same. The clarity and transparency of this amp is fantastic! I can actually hear what my guitar actually sounds like for once! 8)

    Mark IV sample settings

I'm with ya. I was not really thinking of it that way. I have had no issues getting killer balanced sounds out of the Mesa, just thought it may be discouraging to some who are not savvy. And you really do have to spend some time and explore the capabilities of these amps. That's what it's all...

    Mark IV sample settings

Is it me, or do these sample settings in the manual not make sense? The way I set up is to have a clean, then a slightly dirty, then an overdrive-in succession. Meaning rhy1-rhy2-lead. All of the sample settings in the manual are ridiculously unbalanced! Rhy1 is hot and lead is low volume, be it...
