    Rect Pre, 2:100 clips

The lead tones of the recto pre through the power amp are killer!!! Man, that is a really nice tone! Thanks for the post

    recto recording pre ,Clip!

The rhythm sounds killer!!! Sounds very close to a cranked recto. Great tone. I love the mids in a rectifier. It has a tone that punches through the mix. The lead didn't sound as good as the rhythm. A little on the harsh side. Not too sure what type of pick ups you were using or if it...

    Info on Nomad amps

tommy has many great points. Channel 2 is vintage mark II, d.c. series, and can cop a decent F50 sound (although it is noisier) with the eq engaged (need the fabled "v shape") Channel 3 is like a modified marshall. Tight low end, ton of midrange bark, with the rectifier top end (grainy...

Help me narrow my search..I'm new to Mesa Boogie

+1 for the lonestar. If it is out of your price range, consider the mesa boogie nomad. I think it was the lonestar predecessor. The cleans are more mark I. It does a great blues sound, especially the pushed mode. The orange channel is fat, more vintage mark II (classic boogie tone). The...

    F-50 q's

heavyzandt, congrats on the new (used) amp. The F50's clean's are super nice, as you can tell. I don't like cranking the F50's distortion channel, because it is way loud!!! But, it is a super sweet sound. I will be investing in a THD hotplate soon. I do have the THD yellow jackets with the...

    Need help deciding on amp

I agree the nomad may get both versions of the mark IV & recto. However, the nomad is very midrange heavy, and doesn't have the low end of either the mark or recto. You may want to get an oversized cab (2 x 12 or 4 x 12) to get those tones. The F50 is a warmer sounding recto. It has the tone...

    Almost giddy about my F-50

Congrats on the amp! I have an F50, and love the overdrive channel. I spend more time there, then on the clean channel. It has a nice thick, smooth tone. Great for lead guitar!

Squeezin the best tone out of my Nomad 45

I have a nomad 100, and love it! Fortunately for me, there is an onboard graphic eq, so I have the option of scooping the mids. Although, i love the Mid's on the nomad and tend not to use the eq. The mids allows the tone to punch through. The mids may sound bad by itself (too overbearing)...

2 more Carvin DC135/Boogie LSS clips up

Nice tone. the lonestar has a lot of gain. I am surprised when people tell me that there isn't enough gain. Great clean tone! j37

Mesa F-100 Clips of a Heavier Variety

Great sound! Were you playing through the guv'nor pedal?

    Looking for a Mesa Combo

+++1 for the F50. The drive channel w/o contour is incredibly thick, bluesy, great rock tones here. the drive w contour is insane. I find it has plenty of distortion for metal. If you are a sloppy player who relies on distortion & compression, the F50 is not your cup of tea. Both channels...

    F-50 - too powerfull

Running the MV @ 9 o clock will get those power tubes humming. I love the sound when the MV is between 9 - 10 o clock on the contour, and 10-11 w/o contour. It is loud!!! Always wear your ear plugs & take frequent breaks. I almost blew my ears the other day practicing @ loud volumes. I have...

Which amp for country music but can still rock too??

The F series will get you some nice cleans, and you will get good bluesy, rock & roll distortion with the gain. The contour mode will get you rectifier distortion. Very simple, yet versatile. The mesa Nomad might be another option. The cleans are very nice. they remind me more of the mark...

Why has Mesa changed their stock tubes???

My experience with the russian tubes were that they had spikey highs. They were smooth at all. Very shrieky, and harsh. The chinese tubes have a smoother overall response, and more midrange punch. I preferred the chinese over the russian tubes.

    F50 cranked?

The master volume is very sensitive on the F50. I don't hear too much of a difference in volume when comparing 9 o clock & 11:30. However, when it is at 11:30, watch out! The tone fills out perfectly. You can get that singing, smooth santana lead tone. It is incredible. After 11:30 on the...
