Nomads with EL34s

I've got a Nomad 100 212, but I mostly play it through a 412 closed back cab. Today, I swapped out the 6L6s with Electro-Harmonix EL34s. After a little eq adjusting, particularly, bumping up the bass and midrange sliders on the graphic, I found a nice fat tone that sounded great with fuzz and wah pedals too.

Okay, I'm going to stay on the EL34s for a while. Does anybody have a suggestion for better tubes than the EHs? If anyone is using EL34s in their Nomad full time, please let me know what your favorite tube is.

EI Golds or older EIs made in what was then Yugoslavia. Came stock with Marshall in sixties and seventies (well actually you had to mention it to Jim after a while).
