    PSA- DC-3 bias mod

Two years later amps working fine still. Being played moderately (few times a week)tubes arfe holding up fine. Bob

    PSA- DC-3 bias mod

A fan might help but the REAL issue is running the tubes at WAY above 70% dissapation. Stock can be anywhere from 110-150%! One 50 cent resistor will get it down to reasonable levels. Again the stock bias setting is the real issue. A fan is nice but really its only nice with an amp thats biased...

Worried that I could have done damage to my DC5! Help!

Without a signal input it shouldnt do any harm.Bob

    Frizzy distortion

12AT7's dont generally sub well tone-wise for a 12AX7. This is due to the other specs of the tube other than gain. The Mullard CV4024 is a noteworthy exception and fairly cheap NOS still. Fizzy is subjective but I wouldnt call my DC-3 fizzy. It can get a bit fizzy depending on my speaker...

    Tube Depot Bias point 24

You need to find out what the range is. I'd call them and find out. Then you will know if its a cool, middle of the road or hot tube. Bob

Need help getting rid of noise in lead channel

Only the lead channel? Noise might not be as easy to hear on the rhythm channel but still be there. At any rate if it wasnt there before and its sat I would be tempted to hit all the pots, jacks and such with contact cleaner. Any place there might be a bad contact including the FX loop. Bob

    Head cab for my DC-3?

Title says it all. Like to find a head shell that fits my DC-3 combos chassis. Bob

.50 Calber + fizzling out (fizzle)

Yes FX loops can do this. Not just this amp. Almost all loops have contacts that must close in thier jacks when nothing is plugged into it. If it does do it again put a cord from the return to the send and see if it 'fixes" it.You can pull the chassis and spray them with contact cleaner(loop...

DC Mods that are easy to do!

Not sure. Recheck all your work. Took me a lot of trial and error to come up with a simple bias mod for the amp myself. Patience is key. What is wrong with the stock loop? I use mine all the time no problem with GEQ's and an Ibanez DE7. Bob

DC Mods that are easy to do!

The higher the gain is set the less reverb you get. I put a very high gain Sylvania long plate in my reverb position and that gave it a bit more. Bob

    PSA- DC-3 bias mod

Stock the amp runs any tube WAY to hot. This gets them down into reasonable levels. Tone still sounds great. I cant imagine any tube(regardless of its rating) lasting more than a few months stock. They may not blow up but the life is being sucked out of them quickly. Bob

    12ay7 PI?

Yeah Iva amassed about 1000 old stock 12AX7's,12At7's,5751's,etc. Kind of an addiction really. lol! Im 1/2 cork-sniffer. I use old stock 12AX7's and new production power tubes. On a side note-I just bought a lot of 40 Sovtek EL84M's off ebay for 92$. I'll see how good a deal that was when they...

    12ay7 PI?

So I tried a Sylvania black plate JAN 12AT7 in my DC-3 today. It seems clearer -less midrangey. Not sure about this yet as I only tried one-more testing is needed. Bob

How can I run a GEQ with my DC-2 head?

I would try it both ways but think I would place the EQ last in the chain . Disclaimer- Amps store high voltages even unplugged. If you are unsure about what you are doing and safety precautions its best left to qualified tech. No link its a mod I came up with myself. It is simple and...

How can I run a GEQ with my DC-2 head?

Looking at the schematic it uses the same exact bias set up as the DC-3. A 470K resistor across the 120K should cool it down in the same manner. -11 bias voltage and 380 on the plates=HOT. My Boss GE7 stomp works well in my DC-3 FX loop. It has way more affect in the loop than out in front-way...
