The verb xformer drives an 8 ohm load; so you can test to see if its sending a signal by hooking up a speaker to it (makes a nifty little practice amp..). Dont disconnect your internal speaker unless you've pulled your phase inverter or set it to the mute setting.

Easy in terms of the soldering etc. The biggest part of the labor in any amp, especially a pc-board amp, is not the soldering. Its pulling the **** thing apart and pulling the boards so you can get to what you need to get to.

BYOC has a nice 10 band eq that is true bypass. I've recommended it to friends for use in Mesa effects loops and they've been pretty pleased. If you dont want to build it yourself, there is a company linked on their website that sells them pre-built.
