I've never been much for single coils but I'll have to give it a go one day. Have you tried it with Mini-humbuckers? I use a Les Paul Deluxe most of the time and it screams! So much growl and cut...dammit I wish I wasn't at work right now.

I agree, I felt the same way about it. But it really shines with different guitars. I find it sucks for any single coils I have, but sounds great with humbuckers. Still, I dont use it much. For blues I far prefer the channel one clean with a tubescreamer. And I use the burn channel a lot too, so...

I had a Metal Muff and thought it was alright. Then I picked up an MXR Fullbore Metal...way better than the muff. Definitely worth trying out, its sweet and pretty cheap.

I dont have an LP with p90's either (do have one with HB's though), but I do use a Tele Thinline with Seymour Duncan p90's A LOT with my 5:50. It sounds fantastic! When I was trying to decide which way to go I tried out both these amps. I thought the Lonestar was very similar to the Express, except that you could pull more gain out of the express, which is why I went home with a 5:50. If your just looking for great cleans I'd go for the Lonestar.
