    Express 5:50 for metal?

Just throw an EQ in the loop and it'll work very well. I can't match a Rectifier with my 5:50 but it can get pretty heavy with an EQ in there. Night and day difference with it in the loop.

Those with a Mesa Mini Rectifier..... clean headroom?

Thanks!! I'm going to pick one up and see how it handles everything. I really dig the Express but I've never been 100% happy with the dirty channels. Very close, but not quite. Plus, I played with a closed back 4/12 for most of my playing days and I miss the punch of a closed back cabinet...

Those with a Mesa Mini Rectifier..... clean headroom?

....how loud will it stay clean on channel 1 before it starts to break up? Is it loud enough to hold up with a moderate to heavy-hitting drummer in a basement practice space? We play loud, but the not stupid, ears ringing for days loud. Here's the deal..... I currently have an Express 5:50...

    Post your pedalboard

(The Mesa switch is just a basic channel switch with a custom graphic) ... and I just put a new custom label I designed on the Deja Vibe....

    Boost/overdrive help

I'm constantly impressed with my BB Preamp. Sounds amazing set low or high and works very well to push the burn channel on leads.

Footswitch too big... Can I find something smaller?

Gotcha. So would something like this work? http://www.loop-master.com/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=158 I'm trying to find something as small as possible to fit on my board.

Footswitch too big... Can I find something smaller?

I have a Mesa Express 5:50 and a cramped pedalboard. Instead of using the big, all-in-one fooswitch that comes with the amp, is there a way to have just the channel select and reverb available in two separate single button switches on the board? Maybe by using those tiny, one button micro...

    Recitifier Pedal Stacking

I would go lowest gain into highest gain, so the RC->AC->BB. I'm using 3 pedals to do the same thing. The BB (I use this as a very light OD), into a Bad Monkey (higher OD) and then into a Wampler Super Plextortion (balls-out high gain). If I use the BB and the Monkey, I can get a killer...

    NAD 5:50

Congrats and welcome!! I've had my 5:50 for a few months now and I'm still blown away every time I plug in so your gushing is normal. LOL!

    First Delay Pedal

The Digitech Hardwire DL-8 is very similar to the Flashback and has tap tempo as another option.

    First Delay Pedal

Here's an experiment to make you a believer.... Do these 2 tests: Part 1, straight into the amp. Guitar->Flashback->Input of amp. Put the Flashback on the 2290 setting and the rest of the knobs at 12:00. On the amp, go to the clean channel first, no gain at all. Hit a chord or play a short...

    First Delay Pedal

Yea, no problem at all. You run a long cable from your guitar to your board and then another one to the front of the amp, right? Any loss of tone that you can notice? It's the same with the loop. If you're Eric Johnson and can notice the sound of different batteries in a pedal, then yea...

    First Delay Pedal

It's the same as using any pedal... only it's routed through the effects loop and not into the front of the amp. You still keep it out front on your board. Modulated effects always sound better through the loop. OD's and distortions though, you want those in front, always. So all you do is...

    First Delay Pedal

I have mine in the loop. Haven't settled on one particular setting yet but I mostly go between the Analog and Lo Fi modes for a short delay. The Toneprint from Pete Thorn has a really nice modulated sound that I use when I need a bit of chorus. Great pedal.

    Express fuzz like?

Throw an EQ pedal into the loop. That'll tighten it up a bit for palm mutes. A Danelectro Fish & Chips is really nice for 30 bucks. The MXR 10 band is better but it's 3 or 4 times the price.
