Rectoverb 25: High gain/low output retube kit

There is no comparison. The lower output tubes are far from neighbor friendly. Your amplifier only gets slightly quieter although it is quite noticeable. You will simply get used to it and start cranking it up again. A good attenuator really does the trick. I live in a house but in a very...

Rectoverb 25: High gain/low output retube kit

I use a first gen rock crusher. It sounds great and is made really well unlike a lot of guitar related stuff sold today. I love simple and overbuilt old school stuff.

Rectoverb 25: High gain/low output retube kit

I've used the JJEl844s in the mini rectifier. They do reduce the output quite a bit but also take away the punch at the same time. I only had them in the amp for a day.

Want some opinions on new tubes.

If you want to keep your warranty intact, use the mesa tubes. I did add an adjustable bias circuit myself so that I could use a box full of NOS and new production 6BQ5s I have acquired over the years. I find that the tonal differences are not that big or any better despite some claim that they...

Mellower Than a 12ax7 in V1 for a Mini Rec?

Hi, I ended putting a 12AX7 back in V1. 12AU7, 12AY7 lacked punch and quite a bit of volume loss. 12AT7 and 5751 were ok. I think this amp needs a 12AX7 or 5751 at least. I have two 5751s in my TA-30 and it sounds great and haven't noticed any significant volume loss.

Hiss from Mini Rectifier effecs loop in red channel

I have tried at least 5 or 6 mini recs so far and they all had the same symptoms when the amp was set to 25w modern(gain past noon). I use an isp noise gate and that took care of the issue. I also had it checked by the authorized dealer and was told that the amp was perfectly fine. The loop...

Hiss from Mini Rectifier effecs loop in red channel

Every mini rectifier I have tried more or less had the same issue and mine has the hiss from day one. I guess if you are a metal player, you'd hear the hiss more. I use a noise gate in the loop when I play high gain stuff. It really helps!

    TA-15 Footswitch

It should, anything with a single button(mono), if you are only changing the channels. I have a mini rectifier and the foot switch simply changes its channels. I have made such pedals many times and it is a very simple project. You should give it a try.

TA-30 Head -- Channel Switching "Pop" and Reverb Hiss

Great! I hardly ever use the cut and fx/reverb features. It stays very quiet this way. The hiss on either channel is not an issue once I crank up the volume to about 50% even with the reverb engaged. I am very happy with the amp otherwise and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Take care,

TA-30 Head -- Channel Switching "Pop" and Reverb Hiss

I took the tank out of the amp and moved it around. It did tame the hiss down but very subtle. I haven't tried the cable swap method yet but I doubt that it would do anything. That is what I was told by a tech at the service center. I might still give it a shot. Yes all my other mesa amps...

TA-30 Head -- Channel Switching "Pop" and Reverb Hiss

Hi, my TA-30 combo has been hissing from day one. I had it checked by an authorized dealer but they found nothing wrong with the amp. Unfortunately, I think that is just the way this amp is really. I use a reverb pedal instead without the effect/reverb switch engaged. I tried everything I...

    TA-30 Cut Mode Noise

I ended up replacing the reverb tank myself and that made the amp slightly quieter. Yes I did change the tubes but I think it really has nothing to to do with any of the tubes. It simply is a noisy amp when reverb is used. Instead I decided to use my effects out front. Thank you.

    TA-30 Cut Mode Noise

Thank you for the input. I have owned many modern, vintage amps and I do understand that the noise is always there no matter what. Still this particular mode is too noisy. I actually had a chance to play my friend's TA-30 112 and surprisingly it was dead quiet.
