never had a problem tbh - I can quite easily get overdriven crunch hendrix style out of my strat, and as for my tele (52ri) I can get amazing sounds (think zep zepellin heartbreaker..)... I am playing through a 2x12 extension though with g12h's

I run a 2x12 loaded with vintage G12h's - in fact I normally bypass the black shadow totally as I much prefer the sound of the G12hs... It has to be at least 2 speaker though as they are only 25w each, but syaing that never ever had the amp over 1/3 of the way up on volume and easily cuts...

5.50 - the mushy sound was probably due to me setting it up for a vintage 52 tele and then plugging in a 335 with overwound pups... :?

Ok love my express to bits, but, and this isnt really an express problem, I usually play with more than one guitar a night, or more importantly more than one type of pickup a night (tele singles, strat, P90, buckers), and Ill go from lead to rhythm regularly...... Anyone do the same and got any...

I do agree with what youre saying but normally if something sells in the US for $500 it sells in the UK for £500, incl taxes shipping etc...Theres no reason for that kind of increase. Would you buy it if it was double the price it is in the US??

thats exactly whats putting me off it at the moment, us retail of $799 should mean a UK price of around £550/650 max, inwhich case it would sell by the boatload, but at double that for no real reason I think theyll have trouble shifting them tbh, no reason why I wouldnt buy a 5:25 head instead.

the only way its possible is to get a 2x12 8ohm cab (V30s are good speakers with these amps) and use the 2 4 ohm outputs one to the combo speakers one to the extension cab. Or alternatively do what I do and use the combo as a head and buy an 8ohm 4x12 (2xV30s and 2xG12h's) - immense sound...

the way I remember it: you can get 4 people in an 8 seater car, but cant get 8 people in a 4 seater car without causing problems.

I thought it was on thsi site I read it but theres a fix for this - if its the same thing. A few guys complained of exactly the same thing - amps returned to mesa couldnt find anything wrong, problem persisted. Took the amp to a local amp tech, turns out the fuse holder wasnt connected to well...
