Mark III 15watt mode - Who uses it?

15 Watt mode isn't much quieter than simul-class mode. It breaks up sooner thought.

    Surf Tone on a Mark

Your right about the reverb rev, but that's actually one of the effects I don't mind adding outboard, like the Fender unit. Tremolo too. Or I might try Mr.Mark's suggestion and swap out the tank.

    Surf Tone on a Mark

Is it possible to get a good surf music sound from an early Mark? Either a II or a III, both with REV and EQ? Does anyone have any recommendations how to dial in such a sound? Thanks, Betos

Mark IIA Gain Boost - anyone use this?

It's used to get you a fat tone at really low volumes. You can play with it to do other things as well, but that's it's main purpose. For that, it works really well. ~Betos

The Mark IIA Shined Last Night

Yet another proud MKIIa lover - Mine's a bit sad these days though, and I moved recently. Brought it in from the garage and dusted it off. Turned it on and it sounded so sweet - the cleans were amazing, and the drive was nice and thick - for about 5 minutes. Then it started to sputter and...

would you modify a Mark IIa?

Hi, Not sure what you mean about the effects loop not being usable (because I don't use effects). I have heard that on the MK-IIa if you run a volume pedal into the return it acts as a gain level. That could be an interesting feature, and you might lose it with the mod. As far as the...

**** - had me HL and S!!! I went home trying to figure out if I had enough time/money to pay my taxes and get my Mk-IIa serviced! I'm so relieved to find out this was a joke. Thanks for the smile! Betos

Thx for the reply, and excuse me, but what's a 'dummy tele'? ~Betos

    Line IN

Can you run a line level output into the effects return of a Mark III? Will this just run the line in to the power tube section of the amp? Thanks, Betos

Volume boost tricks on Mark IIb

Yes, depending on the options. At least that's the way it is on my MK-IIa, and I think the MK-IIb is the same. There is an input jack on the chasis, behind the tubes, for foot a dual footswitch, and it can be wired in a few different ways. One is usually for the eq, and the other can either...

    Mark III

Try the speaker mix with a Thiele cab. An EVL12M and a 90w Celestion. The combination of those two work really well. Whichever you have in your combo, look for the other one in a Thiele cab. I added a 90w Thiele to my MK-III and the difference was incredible. Betos
