"Skinned Alive!"
Hmmm While this could be a metaphor for what happened to me and my account a few months back it is not ;-)
It's about some recent work on old cabs. (Versus making new cabs)
Skinnin' 'em then bringing 'em back to life.
Enjoy!

Phase one the skinnin'

A Skinned Long Head

A skinned Short head and a skinned Mark series Combo Shell

And then bringing 'em back to life.

The short head is now a snake in the grass ;-)

Originally a White/Creme Bronco Long Head now it's a Black Bronco Long Head.

And lastly the Combo is now wearing an uncommon color for a boogie.
Not unheard of just uncommon.

The two heads were projects for others on the board.
The Combo was done for my own enjoyment (though I might sell it at some point).

Looks great as always, GTS. And as always, I've had a burning question about your work: Where do you source your hardware? E.g. metal corners, handles, chassis mounting accessories? It looks exactly like the stuff Mesa would have used on their old amps. Do you order direct from the manufacturer, or is it all retail?

Beautiful job!

I am very impressed with the way you got the old stuff off.

That is no small trick.

great work. I was thinking of redoing mine with diamond plate but Im sure that would be a ton of work. Ever done one before?

Most of it is bought through retailers.
You have to buy huge quantities to buy from a Manufacturer.
For example: 100 yards of one color/style of tolex, 10,000 screws, etc.
Unfortunately not everything is available via retail so you get creative and make do....
....or go broke and buy more materials than you'll need in a lifetime. Not something I choose to do.

How the hell did you get that off in one piece?!?!?
Patience ;-)

When are you gonna make some Thieles?
Huh?
Thieles? When? Andy you know I've made dozens of Thieles. (Don't you?)
Including the one below which is on it's way to the SF Bay area.
(Please excuse the crappy iPhone pics.)

Not sure what Diamond plate is.
Like the faceplate of a Dual Rec? If so that's metal and no, I haven't worked with it (yet).

Hi george, is the snake covering textured or smooth
Ian it's a bronco texture/ pattern. Same texture/ pattern as on the amp you brought home a few days ago.
