is it better to use instrument or speaker/signal cables for the fx loop?

also if i'm running any effects after my guitar into the input, such as wah, should i use an instrument cable or signal cable after said effects pedal into the amp?

thanks

for racks, any instrument cable will work fine. some ppl believe trs cables are better but it doesnt make a difference.

the effects on ur pedalboard should be connected by instrument cabling as well.

I use the planet waves pedalboard kit for my rack and my pedals, and it does just fine

Use instrument cables for everything EXCEPT speaker connections.
Speaker cables used as instrument cables will hum like crazy because they're not shielded.
Instrument cables used as speaker cables may blow up your amp.
Hence, mixing them is not a good idea.

right, thanks guys, that's what i thought.

i read recently of someone using speaker cables through their fx loop to get better tone and i started to question what i was doing... :?
