Just got done with the Reeder Pot Swap Mod...

Yeah, it worked for me too. A simple mod, big results. If you do decide to do the mid mod, some guys just do it on channel 2, where it needs it the most. I did, and it does improve it even more, not as much as the pot swap however.

Has anyone done both Reeder Mods? Thoughts?

I did the Reeder mod #1 first and I think it dramatically improves the tone more than the second mod. The second mod was more subtle with my rig. It really took care of the overabundance of low mids for me in channel 2. Definitely do the mod, it is easy and reversible.

LSS 1-12 Speaker Again, What Next?

I used that speaker in a Marshall 2061cx cab with my LSS head. It sounded great dirty but was a little dark in a clean setting for me. Every rig is different though, so maybe it'll be what you're looking for.

solution for vol drop between ch 2 clean and drive?

Hmm... with mine, I run the gain almost all the way up and then engage the Drive only periodically when I am looking for more low end Marshall grunt. I have the Drive set at about 8 or 9 o' clock, very low. The volume differential isn't that much different for me at these settings. Of course...

    Lonestar VS Triaxis... Hesitating!

The 5W mode is great, easily as good as the others though I use the 30W setting in a band setting most of the time for the headroom. The master volume on the amp is one of the best I've tried too. The tone stays pretty consistent through the dial so you can get nice sounds at low volume. Being...

    Lonestar VS Triaxis... Hesitating!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I use my LSS head at gigs for all those styles you mentioned, and it excels at all of them (the amp really like alnico speakers like Blues or Golds in my experience). Best amp I've ever bought.

    Lonestar Special Retube Recomendations

I like JJ's in the power section and Tung Sol's for the preamp tubes. I found the JJ's too dark and the last thing the LSS needs is too be darker. The Tung Sol's brightened up the amp in a good way. I love JJ's in general though, I use them for any other amp I have. I can't remember what I have...

    Volume loss on lonestar special

If it is working correctly on the 30 watt setting, I'd suggest trying a different rectifier tube (5Y3 tube).

    Lonestar special/ Vox?

Yeah, agreed. The LSS is a darker amp so it sounds more Blackface Fender in the clean department than Vox to me. Even with the Celestion Blues I am using, it doesn't have the sparkle of a Vox.

    Lone star special or classic

I've owned/used an LSS head with Celestion Blues in a 2x12 cab for 3 years now and have tried out the LSC in store for extended periods of time. Whenever I do try the LSC, I am surprised in spite of the tube difference, how much the channel 2's of both amps are similar. I find more differences...

If the Lonestar didn't exist, what would you turn to?

Electrodyne for sure. If not Mesa, either a Vox Ac30 or a older Fender Super Reverb.

    Greenback (G12M) in an LSS?

I've never tried GB's but I did use G12H30's in a Marshall 2061cx cab with my LSS head. They brought the rock all right.

Weber Copper Cap Replacement for 5Y3GT Rectifier Tube in LSS

Interesting, I'd never heard of this 5Y3 mod either. My LSS head is in the 2600 range so it's definitely before the mod. I don't have any problems with my rectifier tube though. I've had the same one in for at least a year now. Anyone know exactly what they do on this mod? I'll email Mesa and...

What LSS channel do you use dirt pedals on?

I have tried a bunch of different configurations for the channels and the best tonally for me was what you were originally doing. (Clean channel one, dirty channel two with pedals for flavour). I hardly ever use the drive switch as I find it too 'woofy' especially in band situations. Also, I...

Is it possible to make the Lonestar lighter?

Yeah, I'd say go with a head/cab setup. I have an LSS head with a 2x12 cab that is very easy to move. You could find a short box head and then get a nice 1x12 cab.
