You can take the grill off that way...but the safest way to do this is to take the chassis out first...less damage fo sho

If by the face plate...you mean grill...it will come off after taking out the four screws...however...it might be a heck of a lot easier to take the whole chassis out first...(and less damaging) PS...the faceplate (the brushed aluminum thing) is removable...I took mine off to replace it because...
