Would a Mark IIA chassis from a combo fit into a Mark IV head shell without altering anything?
If not what would need to change, if it's possible at all?

So the current screws from the combo cab won't work to hold the chassis in the headshell?

It depends on their length.
Size should be an 8-32
Pull one of your current screws in the combo, take and post a pic of it.

But the real issue is the mounting hole location in a MkIV versus a IIA.
A MkIV will be 15-3/4" L->R while a IIA will be 16-3/16" L-> R (short head or combo)

As I found out to my chagrin after buying one online!
Oh well.

Yeah it happens to the best of us.
I found out when after I made a couple of headshells (based on what I had).
Later discovered the mounting hole spacing was different for the Mark series amps starting during mid-production of the IIB.
Mark series Long heads and Coliseums have different spacing as well depending on the model and year.
Keeps ya on your toes
