Hi there! So, I have recently bought a mk III blue stripe simul class combo which came with the Electro-Voice EVM12L. I am aware that this speaker is one of the best ever made and I really love it, but the combo being semi open, I feel a closed back cab would make the amp roar! Sometimes it just sounds a bit "boxy".. Don't get me wrong. I really love the sounds I am getting! Now, I ve come across a nice old marshall 1960a for no more than 300 euros and I ve been thinking of buying it. Now, I have never actually heard the amp with another speaker but the tone I am after is sth like that....

Do you think it's worth it? Has anyone tried this combination?

I love the sound that I get with my 1980's Marshall 1960A cabinet. It's rated for 260 watts and has Celestion G12-70 speakers in it. Great for Metal, I pair it with my Mark lll. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/100168049@N04/22045637532/

A 4x12 cabinet will make it sound huge. I have a Carvin 4x12 with Vintage 30s in it and my Mark III sounds incredible through it. You will not regret getting a closed back cab.
