Footswitch cable quality matter at all?

i think i know the answer to this one but we'll see...

Does anyone know if the audio signal is affected by the quality of the footswitch cable on the mark I-III?

Given the emphasis that mesa puts on tone, i'd be surprised if the footswitch was in the signal path.

For the channel-switching foot switches, the manual says you can and should use two conductor, un-shielded, lamp cord (speaker cable).
The EQ/Reverb pedal, however, requires a shielded stereo (TRS) cable.
