Just got a matched quad of JJ 6L6GC's and a matched pair of JJ EL34L's to go with my other pair and I've got the quad of EL34L's in now.

Tone is heavenly, like a saxaphone coming out of my dual rec. I like 6L6's but this amp rocks with some british fire in it.

I finally turned on my amp today and didn't touch a single knob, I'm sure the feeling is fleeting (as it always is) but it put a big goofy grin on my face

So which would you recommend between the two?

I'm really interested by the idea of EL34's in a boogie! I think it would balance it nicely!

I guess it depends on your style, they both have a different flavor.

6L6 has a HUGE bottom end, good all around range though a bit loose.
EL34 has a very focused driving attack and more mid/treble properties.

The great thing about the JJ EL34L is that it has a decent bass response whereas typical EL34's do not have this. It doesn't have bass in spades like the 6L6 but I think it's a good compromise and the recto is very bassy anyway, especially if you have a boogie cab.

The JJEL34L is a wonderful tube, but I'm a huge fan of EL34 tone so your mileage may vary if you like your DR now.
