It might be just the limitations of the medium, by I really couldn't hear a justifiable difference between the 6L6 and EL34 tybes on any of the Les Paul or Junior settings. If anything, the EL34s seemed to have a little more presence, but not much else.

I've done a comparison on my markIII with class A (outer sockets.)
I found the EL34 to be rounder and thicker sounding. The 6L6 had more breath and top end sizzle. Both had big bottom but the 6L6 was tighter than the EL34...
I keep the EL34's in the outer, along with 6L6 in the center. Then I can blend 'em in simulclass.
ax.

I did a comparison in my Dual Recto a few years back. I've never really been a 6L6 fan to begin with. So I thought the 34's sounded rounder and fuller than the 6L6's. Additionally, that harsh or "buzzy" sound that everyone says the Recto series has is not a factor with EL-34's.

Just my opinion.
