Studio Preamp FX Switch

Hi y’all,

I have a Mesa Studio Preamp. I had a quick FX switch question. I’m using the main output on the back with nothing running through the FX loop. What is the correct position for the FX switch in this situation? I notice that when I toggle there is a difference in volume (duh) but also there is also a big tonal difference.
