I suppose this could be posted in the "Effects" section, but I wanted to zero in on a specific application.

I have a IIc+ on the way, without GEQ, and I'd like to hear about others' experience running an EQ in the loop.

Are there any that do a decent job emulating Mesa's onboard GEQ, or just any units that do a decent job in the loop with zero tone suck?

Thanks in advance!

Most any GEQ that is not true bypass...long cable runs with true bypass equals signal loss and thus tone loss or "suck."

I agree with the previous post about long cable runs. If you do want to try a true bypass EQ then use some sort of buffer along with it. My Mark IIa has built in 5 band EQ but I like to use a 15 band in addition to the onboard EQ, with a buffered loop setup. The unit I am using is nothing too fancy, a relatively inexpensive DBX unit, but to me it sounds great.
