shuguang -chinese
sovtek i belive -russian
JJ- non labeled with provenience country

thanks for the replied... so the shuguang- Chinese = ruby's ? in the power tubes and the russian could be the SPAX7 preamp tubes and the jj could be the regular preamp tubes? that make sense

I reckon the STR440s are Rubies. As for the preamps, I think they are Sovteks or EHs, but hey, both brands are made in the same factory anyway. Specwise, could be slightly different between the two. Also, I think Mesa could always special request some of their valves. After all, the regular preamps seem to be Sovtek 12AX7-A designs, which are predecessors to the B and C designs...

The new Mesa Russian 12AX7 is indeed the JJ ECC83S.

ROFL! That's weird, cause the JJ preamps in some of the Mesas I've tried aren't bright enough I've found. Maybe this one is different to the regular ones maybe??? :?
