Elpelotero, we'll get those camparison posts as soon as the amp shows in store.. (poor posts id bet, cant do that from memory) and then we'll have to wait for the dudes who have the origianl to a/b them to the same cab and with the same settings.

Would anyone else laugh hysterically if the Mark V didnt show up at NAMM?

Mighty expensve anchor... i'll trade you a nice chunk of metal for this newer boat anchor :)

Should we wait for it to be released before we start complaining and arguing about it?

+1 we have no idea what this amp sounds like and even those who demo'd the amp have no idea of its potential or reliability as a long term investment. We should all just wait and see when it is released before we complain about it. It may be amazing or a boat anchor

I totally agree. I recall the M-1000 bass amp, totally awesome sounding, but so unreliable they had to kill the model and go back to thr drawing board, thats how we have the M-pulse today. I'm sticking with my Mark IV for at least a year; I may even hold out for the MARK V-B :D

We all know Mesa likes to tinker with existing products, but who knows? Sometimes waiting is a good thing, other times not.

You could wait and get a "Mark V Series II" with improved modes and stuff while people don't buy the originals as fast...or you could could end up with a "Mark V Revision G" while the people who bought early are selling the "Mark V Revision C" for $3000 each. Who knows? What about the relatively short run of IIC+'s that came out with people recommending towards the end to wait and buy the III that was coming out instead (didn't that happen to you George/gts)? i'm sure a lot of those folks wish they had went ahead and bought.

Point being, only time will tell what will happen. Regardless, it's going to be a great amp - I have no doubts - regardless of whether it goes through more revisions or not, and I'm sure they'll all sound good.

I'm going to NAMM, fellas! I just got a call out of nowhere from a buddy who got me and 2 buddies in on some sweet VIP kind of badge. I guess I'll have to spend some time in the Boogie tent and give you all the real skinny on the Mk. 5. :)

Also - I'll be sure to take and share lots of photos. Woo hoooooo!

see now I'm soooo jealous. you're going, my studio friends are going, and I ain't going and I live 30 miles from anaheim.

but it's better not to go: the GAS after NAMM must be badass (disaster)!

It helps to be too broke to give into it ;)

Some info.

The Electra amp also looks interesting.

Looks good but no 2 El34/2 6L6 option is a bit of a bummer. That's my favorite on the Mark IV. Certainly no deal breaker though.

Read the manual on the site: according to it, you can use EL34 in the outer and 6L6 in the inner sockets, just like the good old days. Doesn't say where you're supposed to set the bias switch in that case though.

Looks like there is no recording output though.... I wonder if the fx send or slave output (or even tuner output) would sound good direct into the board....

Mesa's page has contradictory information. One part says 45w mode is A/B, inner pair(?). The other page says 45w mode is Class A, outer pair. Trying to find out which is correct.

While your talking with them, find out about the 6L6/EL-34 combination with the bias select in the "6L6" position. 8)

Any body heard what the weight is for the combo and head. Any new speaker options? I'm thinking about a widebody combo but it probably is an arm stretcher with an EV in it.

And for that matter, what 4x12 cab would they be pairing it with? I'd assume the 4x12 recto cabs...

Cool, a bit of the Highwire riff from Badlands being played on channel 2 (Mark I), I think.....

I think it's safe to say this channel has more balls than Mark 4's middle channel!
