Mike 'B' at Mesa Boogie emailed me today and they do the mod for $300. The cost has gone up due to the cost of the transformer.
Does anyone know if this is the the main transformer or the output transformer? I know the output transformer has a huge impact on your tone.
I'm wondering how much my over all tone will change. I have read all over the forum about how more smooth the simulclass amps over the 60/100 watt versions. I have to say that my amp isn't very forgiving in those regards and is very punchy. Just wondering if anyone can give me any other input on this. I was expecting the A/B mode with 6L6s to sound relatively the same, but just get the added bonus of EL34s in smoking class A. Will EL34s sound similar to the sound I get now with Groove Tube 'substitubes' running EL84s in Class A?
Money is tight now, but I think I'm going to do this.
